I've been given a leaky plastic budget beer keg, and the previous owner has tried to melt the plastic near the tap to stop the leak and all that he has managed is to burn the plastic.
I've taken the tap out, and sanded down the burnt plastic, wiped it with Isopropyl alcohol and used a steel epoxy over the original area of the burn, hoping to catch the leak. I'll be refitting the tap with a bit of PTFE round the threads to ensure that there's no leak there either.
When it's cured, I'll get a new top that supports gas and fill it with water.
If the epoxy resin doesn't hold (I can't see why it wouldn't tbh) can anyone suggest an alternative?
