hi there, i am posting on here because my mate told me you guys are extra special with loads of knowledge so here goes .....
basically there's a rectifier, (voltage regulator) on this moped and there's two wires, a green wire and a blue wire with a white stripe running down it, they're both coming out of the rectifier. the green seems to go back to the engine or coil. the blue with the white stripe wire is going towards the start of the left side of tank where wires go down to the engine, however it's poking out with a male bullet connector attached. this doesn't seem right to me. is this some kind of earth? or is it not needed? if there's anyone here with one of these bikes, i will post some more things i need to know tomorrow. i have a service manual with wiring diagrams but i would like a bit of a talk with someone who knows this sort of thing. many thanks for your help.

Is there any running problems with the bike? How many wires are coming from the rectifier? Green goes to the ignition coil, and any other wires should go to the alternator. The B/W wire sounds as if it's been wired up by someone else to power something extra. Connect a bulb tester on the end of the B/W wire and then put the other end to the body and switch it on, does the bulb light up, I doubt it's an earth.

thanks for your help david. on my bike, there's a rectifier, with two wires, green and blue with white stripe. the green goes back into the stator, however, the blue with white stripe is not connected and goes to the front fork, with just a male bullet connector attached. maybe it wasn't connected on this type of bike. this bike doesn't seem to have a 6v battery fitted, however the both wires of the rectifier seems to connect to the stator on this diagram.
see that horn/dimmer switch, what does "gen" mean? also the light green wire on the horn, i presume that's a live feed, 6v? the green is earth? see that key to the wiring colours? it gives the colours but not their roles in the circuit. looks like i might be able to fit a stop switch to the black with white stripe wire. i will have to work out what the 6v live feed wires are, and what the earth wires are. i need to feed a 6v wire to the light switch toggle, so it feeds 6v to the live wires to the headlight.

i had a look at another regulator on another bike, there's a red wire and a blue wire, i expect the blue is the earth, but i have blue and green on my bike. confusing!
