Well its my 16 year olds school prom this Thursday, didnt want a limo but wanted something nice and a bit different to turn uo in, we looked into an aston martin vanquish ,( too pricey), ferrari ,( so 2010 ) porsche ( might as well go in the golf ) then I remembered a guy round the corner has something that rarely comes out of the garage. My wife is not known for her subtlety but I suppose if you don't ask you don't get. consequently after a short chat on a total strangers door step. My son is going to his prom in this. 7.2 litres of Chryslers finest mounted in the most beautiful hand built body ever made in Britain. can't see there being another one in the queue to drop off amongst the tacky Hummers and Lincolns

We didn't have proms when I was at school, but if we did I'd've happily turned up in a Jensen. Lucky, lucky boy.

i was boring and took a limo (mind you the offer of lots of champagne included sweetened the deal)
however if someone had offered to take me in that......I wouldnt even have to consider which option to take ;D

Pah, you bunch of pansies and your school prom malarkey. When I was forcibly evicted left school I was picked up in a Bristol, and none of that crummy Beaufighter nonsense either.
*It was a 1979 VRT in green with 'C31, Chester' on the front ;D

We didn't have 'proms' when I left school, but if we had I hope I would have had the self-respect to not go. They're nothing more than a tacky, brash, vulgar display of materialistic one-upmanship; exactly the opposite of the values children should be being taught. Having said that, if I had to go arriving in that Jensen would be

Cool prom car!
I remember our school "prom" thing!
Loads of stretch limos all over the place, I think the rest of the kids in the class had booked every limo in 100 mile radius!
The one car that stood out that night was (Now forgive me I don't know my mercs very well) a nice stack light pillarless coupe type car! Young girl was the quiet girl of the class to, everyclass has one, the shy quiet type that like in every teenage movies comes to the prom looking STUNNING with a (imo) very classy arival!

I think a nice bottle of scotch and a warm handshake would be a most befitting gesture here! very nice suggestion! trouble is the guy dosent drink, (probably cant afford to as he also runs a 4.2 jag and a discovery) So after a lot of head scratching, we have got hold of a model of a mkIII interceptor in the right colour in a presentation box and had a little plaque engraved saying simply. "thank you from Jordan 14/07/2011"

That is some seriously cool transport for any occasion! We had a leaving ceremony, which I guess was our equivilent, and basically an awards/graduation thing at the school, which I in true car-nut fassion turned up to... on a bicycle.. In my defence, it was a cruiser build from modified bits of old push bike as well as a few bits of Honda moped. I never really got on with my year group, so wasn't fussed about impressing anyone, and it made my mates laugh, which was all I was bothered about. We then a couple of weeks later had our 'Prom' which was organised by the popular kids who wished they lived in an American high-school drama, I wasn't too fussed about going, but I ended up turning up in a boring old limo for fear of being castrated by my girlfriend if I didn't. haha. The after-party was a lot better than the prom, because all the popular/cool kids had gone to a different one Although there was an interesting moment at the end of the prom, when our slightly tipsy head of yeah said a little bit loudly, "Robin, be a gentleman and lift Hollye's skirt up." It was meant innocently, she was just pointing out that my girlfriend was walking on her dress, but there was a few gasps and lots of people turned around when she said it, haha

We didn't have proms. Either that, or no-one told me....I was asked to not come to school for the last week.
Wasn't planning on it anyway...
