After reading alistairks heroic efforts with his paint job,and thinking about original ideas, has anyone done a "white primer look" Its just being a lazy sod, and skint after being bent over by various expenses and shafted, that I thought maybe its an alternative to the black rat look. You can imagine it would look truly bad after a couple of weeks or so-Smog,oily hands,TREES!,bird curse word, etc. is this a new idea,or am I,as I suspect just a lazy git

Sounds good to me. It would indeed get bloody filthy with no ability to clean it. This would be a great base to grow some moss on.

ive tried red primer and now satin black - both awful to look after as grease seems to leap towards if from the oily bits and even water can mark it... good luck with white !

My MG Monty is in white primer, i'm tempted to leave it like that too! But yeah as said, it does mark rediculously easily. I don't think it suits the Mongtego, just looks like work in progress (which it is) or faded paint. But on the right car, like a traditional hot rod or sled, it would look awesome!

The difference being, flat or satin white will be a proper coat of paint. Primer lets moisture though so lets the metal rot underneath.

You could always get some satin white made up - that way you wouldn't have the porosity of primer (I think...), plus it might wear a little better. Oily fingermarks all over the bonnet, around the door handles, smudges of soot on the panels... I reckon that's a cracking idea!
