hi,
is it possible to remove pressed in ball joints from a top
wishbone?

Usually yes...
But it depends on what it's on and what tooling is about.
A vice might do it with a large socket or 2 or you might need a hydraulic press.
Best option is get the wishbone off and take it to a garage, they'll usually press out the old and in the new for a few quid. mush less hassle than attempted DIY.

Just take it to your local garage. With a press it will take a few minutes without one you'll be swearing for hours.
If it was the only job you may be charged £2 - £5 if there are other things you want done as well my boss would do it on the house

or if you have maintenance department at work who can do them for free like i do at work... they have some good presses to get the job done..

more like £20 to £25 to press in a ball joint (had to pay £25 for someone to press in a wheel bearing) £5 a few days ago for me to get a merc 190 balljoint pressed out and new one in, and to do the same with the propshaft centre bearing. 5 mins at the garage with a 30ton press. That price was me walking into the garage with wishbone in 1 hand and propshaft in the other, so they didnt have to disassemble anything. I was happy to pay that than spend hours battering, burning, hacksawing and grinding. |

A good smile, a "...fiver for your tea fund..." line, and as Tdipd says have the bits disassembled and ready to go, and not too greasy helps as well!!

I got a mate to press the chevettes lower ball joints out the other day, fiver in the tea fund but took 30 tonnes to get them out.  |

I had 10 tonnes pressure on a driveshaft in a hub in a press! Christ! God knows how I would've got it out otherwise.
I haven't had any problems getting tapered joints out with Halfords bolt/hinged ball joint removers though. Very satisfying when it CLONKS out.

Do you mean track-rod end? They're much easier than that if you know what to do. I've not used one of them ball-joint separators for ages. Just a sharp smack with a heavy hammer on the part of the hub the taper slots into. Should just pop out.
