Looking good. don't tune it and run it with those bars... Itll be scary as hell, I think its also the forks that let em down, mine realy is like riding a pushbike at 50mph, Just keeps making you think your gonna have a huge tank slapper... If you run straigh bars I.e from a motocross bike it might be nicer. Its somthing I'm gonna try at some point. That and some EBR forks. You ridden it properly yet? When mine was standard i had to push it off to get it going

Cheers dude, ive already done some small tuning and it IS scary haha its got some pulling power aswell. Ive not rid it properly yet buit ive had a good few goes down my street but its really small so i can't really tell. I'll asess the situation when ive done my CBT got my lisence and what not. and yeah the forks are sh-t! When i set off if i do quarter throttle its quite sluggish but at about 10mph you feel this 'kick' and you can feel it proper pulling its pretty nice

Just a quick (probably dumb) question, I'm in the garage now still trying to sort out a few bits and bobs. I put all the back brake together a while ago and it's not really working well (not really atall) so ive come back to it now so i took the rear wheel hub apart had a look inside and theres a load of curse word and gunk all around and on the brake shoes so i cleaned that up.. but they don't seem to be catching very well atall and i don't really know what mm the pads run down to when in need of newuns. Anyone got any ideas on all this?

In all honesty. I wouldnt risk trying to make old ones work.
New ones are pennies and the brakes on these things are utter wibblepoo at the best of times..
Get some new shoes, Get some brake cleaner in the drums. Fit em , Adjust the cables and it should be as good as they will get..
Mine slow me down from 50mph.. JUST lol

Quick question, my lights seem to be alright then not then okay again then not blahhh. Anyway ive drawn up what my wiring is, basically just wanted to know if it's right. I had the diagram up in the haynes manual but it was confusing as i didn't have the original switch for the lights so i just used a simple on/off one. anyways heres the diagram: Is this right or wrong? has worked for me but keeps not working haha

Hi peeps, having real trouble registering this bike as it has no documents. I'm such an idiot for buying this as it has absolutely nothing with it other than its reg plate and engine/chassis numbers. Ive already tried filling in a v55/5 but DVLA want some sort of proof of it like an MOT cert or tax disc - all which I havn't got so I don't think I can register it. I'm kicking myself cause ive been looking forward to riding it for ages. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
Thankyou

How do you mean? if i put it through an MOT does that suddenly give me the right to get a new logbook? I did a v62 form and sent that off - the v62 is for applying for a reg certificate but they rejected it and said they have no record of the bike. eughhhh this is so confusing

I thought you meant the DVLA wanted an MOT certificate before registering it, never mind.
I don't see how the DVLA have no record of it, it must have been registered at some some point. Is there more than one set of numbers on these?

don't do that... Its not that hard to get a v5... DVLA are just being useless pricks as usual...
People import vehicles and re-register barn finds every single day. You just need to speak to someone who isnt completely retarded at the dvla... Even if it is hard to find one sometimes.

Retrowagen is right. It's who you takl to that counts. Ask to speak to a manager and see if you get any further.
You may also need to get a owners club to certify that it is what it is. I'd start with the VMCC (Vintage motorcycle club) as they do this a lot. They may also be able to advise on getting it re-registered.

Wow, I had one of these when I was a kid. It was the same blue colour!
We had loads of fun round a mates field for ages on it. But someone nicked it and when we found out who it was, we got round there to find him covered in white dulux. turns out he was trying to paint it white to hide the fact it was ours lol
don't give up, I'm sure it can be registered. Maybe get it MOT'd to help with the dvla?

Thanks Retrowagen and Jonw but ive sorted something else now, Ive sold the white one to my friend as he wont be using it on the road. BUT temptation got the better of me and ive bought another, this time with v5 doc and t+t. It's a 2 speed with clutch in horrible bright yellow paint which i'll be changing soon (probably old english white again with some nice island blue highlights). Ill post up some piccys after. Until then I'm off to the garage!
