Hey, just bought a Rover 216Gti To tidy up and sell on, genius me decides to pressure wash the engine bay and now it wont start Its a 1.6 16v injection (honda engine if that helps) only had 8v carb vw's before so didnt think about water getting into where the sparkplugs sit on this one, it ran rough for a while before i dried the spark plug seats out, now it wont start at all, just turns over and backfires, any ideas please?

just check the cap really, water can get down where the leads plug into the cap or round the base and up that way.

:)Did you get it running? The Honda engined 200 models suffered with amplifier failure in the distributor a lot.

don't, like i did, just put gallons of WD40 over everything. I once had to call the AA to my polo on a damp morning, he just WD40'd the dizzy and all was fine. Next damp morning I tried the same thing with my newly purchased can of the ol' squirty magic, still no joy. Called them out again and he just poured my WD40 out that was sloshing around in the dizzy, refitted it, started first time. If it's simply after you jetwashed the engine just unplug all the leads, take the dizzy off, push it into the sunshine, crack open an orange juice and wait. let nature fix your car
