Right if anyone here has seen my thread in readers other modifications, you will know I'm fitting a moped engine to mobility scooter, i am going to use the spricket from the electric motor to begin with and see what happens. I have removed the rear wheel from the moped engine and the shaft is splined and then threaded. I need a way of fitting that sprocket without welding it incase i need to change it. The sprocket DOESNT fit over the shaft either. Here are some pics for your pleasure: Cheers

Is the female spline inside the wheel steel or alloy? If it's steel i'd turn the female spline "tube" down so it was fairly thick, then weld a circular steel plate on the outer end. I'd then open the centre of the sprocket out so it was a push fit over the tube, (with the steel plate to the outside of the sprocket), then drill 3 holes through the circular plate, drill and tap the sproket to match and bolt it all together.

Simply buy a Chinese quad sprocket for a GY6 engine. This lump normally is used in a scooter so has exactly what you are trying to make I've got one - but sorry aren't selling. Paul H

Paul H Could you post a picture of your one please? As the ones I have found online don't look like they would work on that shaft... thanks

Normally not a problem but I had a stroke last week so doctors have banned me from driving anything for 4-6 weeks in case I have another. I've got a mobility buggy but aren't even allowed to use that ! Paul H

What was originally fitted to the shaft? Perhaps it could be adapted to accept a sprocket.
The splines look similar to those on alternators, so maybe you could raid a pulley off one and adapt that...

A wheel was originally fitted straight to the shaft, but its an alloy wheel, although I should imagine the centre would of had to have been steel as the ally is softer... and Paul H, sorry to hear that, hope your all on the mend now mate.
