I was daydreaming at work the other day about this. You could buy a snotter Rover Metro/100 and this.. With a bit of ingenuity and thriftiness you could have a dangerously quick and cool little hatch for £800 or so.. A perfect sleeper. Free bump because that's all I can afford.

I have a vvc in my mini. Even standard they are stupidly fast, mine is tuned to about 180 bhp with just a little head work, piper ex cam, air filter and exhaust. All on the standard ecu. The wiring is simpler than it looks and only needs half a dozen wires splicing into your original loom.

Any dimensions you can get would be helpful, length/width/height I suppose are the main ones. As said in the original post, the engine is from a Rover Coupe (1998 200 Coupe) but the engine is essentially the same as all the other VVC's The 145bhp engine can be taken to 160/165bhp quite easily with the 160 throttle body (usually around £40 on eBay), a 160 manifold (£20-£30) and induction (enclosed). This is backed up with the following response I found to someone looking to up the power of their 145bhp VVC: "An enclosed induction kit, 52mm Throttle body and manifold/sports cat/silencer combo will easily see 160BHP, but more importantly give a healthy increase in torque too."Don't forget that you don't have to run a cat which will help increase the BHP compared to the stock figure. To get any more you'll be into some headwork (port/polish) or different cams, but as Gazwad says, this will get you nearer 180bhp. Personally, it seems dead cheap and easy to get to the 160/165 area but gets progressively more expensive after that if you want to squeeze more out. Food for thought.

Dimensions for the engine are as follows:
Overall height (bottom of sump to top of cam cover): 640mm Overall width (bellhousing to end of pulleys): 510mm Overall depth (edge of manifold to edge of manifold): 540mm
They are as accurate as I can get give or take a few mm.
Hope that helps? It's quite a compact engine overall - certainly small enough to fit in a Metro or a Mini, so I can't see it being a massive problem fitting into an MGB.

Thanks Dude, I'll have a look on there but have never been keen signing up to a forum just to sell something, always strikes me as bad etiquette and a lot of forums don't like it. I'll take a looksy though ;D As for the ECU, it's whatever the stock management is. MEMS stikes a bell, but as to what version/type I have no idea. I'll take a look at the casing and note the details down when I'm at the unit on Friday.
