Hello,
I'm trying to bleed the brakes on a generation 3 camaro without ABS.
Only the front flexi hose was removed, it has fluid comming through the nipples but pedal is not getting there hard.
If I leave the top off the master the fluid squirts out of it when the pedal is pressed , I have never sen that happen before, is this a flipped seal?
Thanks, Gav.

Sounds like it could be the master cylinder's non-return valve. The valve blocks the passage of fluid from the pressurised cylinder into the reservoir, and is normally closed as soon as the piston starts it's travel.
Probably time for a master cylinder or a rebuild kit, I'm afraid.
That said, I've not had a Camaro cylinder apart.

Were the brakes fine before? Why was the flexi hose removed?
Maybe the brake master cylinder itself requires bleeding before moving on to the wheels.
What I do when bleeding brakes is to get some to pressure the pedal and hold it there. Unlock and re-lock the bleed and some fluid will get through. Release the pedal and re-apply and then repeat the unlock/lock and repeat this until done.

does an '84 have the seperate great big bias valve block thing that looks like a long thin m/c? from memory it should have. if so itll be that thats causing the problem, youll have to point-bleed it at the unions there to eliminate all the air in the system.

Thanks Chaps, good info, but it seems after a conversation with him today, it was my assistant that was the problem
