1991 Golf Gti, 33 years old, SP50, one non fault claim. My renewal came through from Admiral - £506 ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) :'( Using Goconfusedthemarketcompare.com I got it down to £360 ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Then I thought I would try to get it on a classic policy but most were 3000 mile limited policies or required garage parking, but my garage resembles a childrens toy shop these days so theres no way I can get a car in it. Then I tried Peter James Insurance - comp cover with me and the mrs driving, unlimited miles, agreed value - £142! ;D ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) cant complain at that price, I paid up straight away! www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/Pic related: ![](http://www.ridelust.com/wp-content/uploads/weirdcrash4.jpg)

Are peter james good with younger drivers . And do they cover provisionals as well. Gonna start driving again in a couple months hopefully and anything over 10 years old is a bonus as can get 96/97 cars for like £250 or less.

to be fair I don't think most people would recognise a '97 Volvo as a classic...

to be fair I don't think most people would recognise a '97 Volvo as a classic... no i agree, but it was mentioned in a post that they class any car over 10 years old as a classic so i thought i'd give them a try, its obviously not EVERY car. As it happens i cant get a quote for under £400 from anywhere which is annoying, even my range rovers were under £200 quid, so its not to do with parts prices, performance, relaibility or how much damage you could do to something else as far as i can see, if i had been intelligent enough to get a quote before buying it i probably would have bought another Jag instead.

I found Peter James will class pretty much anything over 20 years as classic. There is a small additional premium for "classics" 20-30 years old. Stuff less than 20 years old they have quoted me on a regular road risks basis. I think people get confused that if a classic broker quotes a policy it must be a classic policy.

The website for a small broker will only have very vague guidelines of what they insure, if you call them, and tell them what you need, you may be surprised. My girlfriend had a slightly modified Mk1 Fiesta (40mm drop, wheels, XR2 bodykit) with them for about £600 fully comp. She took the policy out when she was 19. When it came to renewal, it would actually have gone up a bit but she was swapping to another car anyway so we ended up going elsewhere.

My renewal on a 6000-mile policy was £766... Eventually, managed to find it elsewhere (Endsleigh) for £620.

I'm with a company called Peter Best. They also say over 30's on their website, but i joined them last year at 25 years old, and my renual just came though, shopped around for some quotes else where, they're still over £200 less than everyone else. Looks like i'm stopping this year too ;D
