Hi there Casino! I've got the blue one with a red louvered bonnet - that was at CARS - but I'm pretty new to the things, so I can't really tell you much I'm afraid! All I can tell you is thatyou've got good taste Alistairk is the man to talk to about these things - he's had a couple of the estates, and a good few saloons - so he really knows his onions! if you need anything else, don't hesitate to drop me a line! I have owned about 16 or 18 Victors (including the Ventora and VX4/90 versions). All of which were the FD series. Which model are you looking at? If its an FD or maybe FE I can goive you some advice. I've sold off all my estate parts now though. Got some mechanical stuff left. Anyways, this is how they break out: This is the F series. Last I heard they thought there were 6 of these left. rare as anything and rot like the devil. 1500cc 3 speed column shift OHV motor. This is the FB series Couldn't find an estate photo. Same running gear but optional 4 speed manual box or auto. Later ones get a 1600cc OHV. ooh, tiny estate pic This was replaced by the equally rust prone 101 series (FC) Theres a saloon pic as well as I dunno if the estate pic will hot link. Again 1600cc OHV, 3 speed or 4 speed, 2 speed auto optional. Replaced by the FD which was the first all new Victor since the F type. Slant 4 SOHC motors of 1600cc or 2000cc (1599 or 1975 actually) or the Cresta sourced 3300cc straight six. Straight 6 ones get a harmonica grill as in the police car pic. This one was owned by a mate. Was rotten though, I think it got broke up 3 speed is still base trans in these (except 3300cc). 4 speed and over drive is optional. 3 speed auto optional (some 3.3s have a yank Powerglide though). This was replaced by the FE series in 1972. The engines were enlarged to 1800cc and 2300cc. 3.3 optional until about 1974. No 3 speed boxes though! (except the auto) Cool Audi Avant style rear treatment. Face lifted in 1976 for the last few years and sold as VX1800, VX2300.

Told you he knows his onions!! I don't mind saying at all... I got mine off a guy I met on another forum, for the bargain price of 1600 smackers... but I realise now that I got a real bargain!! it was bare metal restored 10 years ago, and is in really good nick structurally and mechanically. Its been lowered loads, and has an FE engine and box (2.3, 4 spd) and all the suspension and brakes rebuilt/uprated accordingly. I'm told there's not too many FD estates about anymore, in fact I was really pleased to see the white estate at CARS, but if you keep your ear to the ground, I'm sure something will eventually come up! might be worth keeping an eye on here: www.vauxhallheritage.com/forum/default.asp?b=1Matt

Matt, come on now, be honest with everyone. You RAISED this car back up a bit once you'd got it. Henous crime! ;D Reverse stick! Hit with a root perhaps?

Tis true Seth... I did raise the rear, brought a tear to my eye, but to be honest, it was a little unbearable riding on the bumpstops... I'd like to 'bag it one day, seems like an ideal candidate - but I want to sort the body out first.
How are the fender skirts coming on?
