Hi, I would like to buy the car here and the guy seems to indicate that the only rust is in the pictures you see. The rust near the battery looks somewhat significant and I imagine there is rust elsewhere. Do you think the rust looks bad/deep? How rust free do you think the car actually is? www.finn.no/finn/car/used/viewimage?finnkode=29144157

Impossible to tell without seeing it for real. That could be surface, or could be worse under the seam sealer. Car looks nice and clean but pics (and sellers) can be deceiving; I recently went to see a car that looked great in pics but in reality was a lot of filler under badly-done paint, lots of prev welding, and problems underneath.
It does look very clean overall in the pics. But there's no guarantee of it's real state. If it's significant money, go and see it, you'll be glad you did either way for sure. Good luck with it.

That doesn't look like surface I reckon it'll have gone through, and presumably if you take the wing off the inner wing will be bad too. They're not hard cars to weld up though.

Ive seen worse rust than that! The majority of the car looks nice and solid.
From those pics I can see rust by the battery that looks like it will need welding and also on the same side the bottom of the chassis leg looks a little crusty. However there both fairly hidden areas and don't look that difficult to repair. The area by the battery may be a little tricky to get a torch to though. Also bear in mind your welds need to be good and strong as those are load bearing members.
If it was me id give it a look. But can you weld if so id go for it?
Also bear in mind the rust will almost definatly be a lot worse than it looks at first glance. So expect more work than it looks like because that is just the nature of tin worm

Oh and as I'm not sure where you are i'll add the rust by the battery is definatly within the prescibed 30cm from the top suspension mount and thus WILL be an MOT failure

Its going to depend on how much work you want to take on, its not to bad (in the grand scheme of old cars) and access will be easy as you have bolt on wings and they are going to need to come off to fix it. Just be ready for what may be hidden behind them. The rest of the car does seem very clean looking but I would still be having a real long hard look under it

That's not surface rust, it's bad rust in an important area. Find out the places they rust normally, and get the seller to take detailed photos of those areas. Looks clean overall, but it would be strange for a car to rust that badly in only one area. Either that or everything else has been fixed, but an earth point near the suspension mount area? Naaah you'd do that first.
