I'm picking a black 1986 190 up on saturday and not sure whether I should keep it or pass it on.
Any potential at all? I've seen too many battered ones with 2.3 16 type body kits to have cared too much for these in the past. But I'm thinking lowering, black deep steel rims and some nato green.....too obvious maybe?
Suggestions please!

But I'm thinking lowering, black deep steel rims and some nato green.....too obvious maybe? Suggestions please! I was thinking this exact thing last year,... even if its obvious,.. no one has done it... its one thing to come up with an idea,, it's another thing to actually do it ... therefore,.. You should do it

The lad two doors up from me had a pale metallic green one for a couple of years. He lowered it and put some generic 5-spoke deep-dish alloys on it. It looked SUPERB. I've always fancied one

I think it'd look really good just slammed over some nice alloys. No bodykit, no dumb grille with a huge star on it... just really simple. Is it the 1.8 Carb model? Not going to set the world alight but a good car. I'd smoke round in it for a while if it were mine

Yeah this is as basic as they come with the 1.8 with auto so I doubt whether I'll be breaking speed records. Its got the usual goodies on it and its quite nice to drive. They're clean understated looking cars in the right hands. Got be ok for cruising up and down the M40/A34.....
Right. Who's got the NATO paint.....

There were some very, very nasty looking ones out & about last sunday :vomiticon: I agree though that the right deep-dished wheels and some drastic slamming will work straight off. Anything interesting you can do with the paint thereafter is an added bonus, and also makes it appear less likely that you loiter outside schools peddling soap & pills every afternoon
