I've not been to Newark in ages. Benzboy and I trucked up in his Bond looking for some stuff for the car. We bumped into Lizardking up there. All in all a great morning until the heavens opened. Plenty of tat (although the general and bric a brac stalls are still there) but some great cars in the priority parking ("show" area LOL) Nice Capri 3 wheels on my wagon Very tidy fifty-seven BB was all over this one. Well rare aussie imported Prefect Ute Golden Wonder, we wonder? Mk1 Cortina with 5 lug wheels... Nuff dish? Big brakes Someone with a 100E has had the same idea... How tempted was I with this little project for a grand. If I had a grand that is. This looked fun too. Kadett coupe. Original UK RHD car is unusual Should have gone easier with the rust remover mate I love this but preferred it in its original matt gold patina to is blue repaint Release your inner redneck Green machine. But £3k? The "curse word me thats awesome" award of the day goes to this though. Does anyone remember a Custom Car feature Anglia Van from about 1980 called "Disco Trucker" like this but with port hole windows? Quick stop on the way home to rehang the exhaust a slight water ingress needs to be looked at though...

Haha! I didn't realise you'd sneaked a shot of me fixing the exhaust! ;D It was bloomin' hot. I always seem to own cars which have unhooking exhausts! And I think it's the speed holes which are letting in water. I'll have to fix them...
It was an enjoyable day, shame the weather turned soggy later but we got a good few hours of tat-rummaging in.
That's pretty much all the paint gear acquired now!

I've only ever been to this event once, about 12 yrs ago. I keep threatening to go again A superb selection of motors there Mr Stairk. Lovin the 100E & Cortina. Wonder what the bonnets were hiding??? That Starlet doesn't belong to Mr Wonder, I believe it belongs to a chappie ooop Sheffield or poss Chesterfield How bloody cool is that Anglia Van!! I sooooo love these little beasties. (must pull my finger out and find some new inspiration to finish restoring mine) Can't beat a bit of 70's custom nostalgia either. Wonder if it was built then or now??? Have a couple from back in the day. Not sure if one of these is disco trucker...? The second one looks like it could be

I love the Anglia van. I'm in two minds though - would it look better with some of the tat removed, or does the tat make it? I think maybe the second option. Maybe it could do with some more...?
Cortina and 100E are also both quite lovely. I'd be happy with either of them if that's all they'd had done to them, let alone if there's something appropriate and tasty under the bonnet.
And LOL at the "bikini" picture ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

The bottom one is the one that I was thinking of, it was built by a guy called Disco Des and may have hauled his mobile disco PA around, I don't recall.
You can see the lettering up the side of the van if you can read past the girl!
The "Jukebox" one might be one I know of from Beeston area. If it is then it has a 1500GT motor and box and was built back in the day. I was told about it a few years ago, a chap I know found it when he went to a guys house over some other business and the van could have been had for £750 or so. But my chum was evasive about exactly where the house was and didn't have the guy's number to hand etc. so....

Discotrucker was built by Les Cozens IIRC. I had the non-censored version of that pic up on my wall as a teenager! In between that, John Baldaccino's Viva (still around) and Bryan Godber's 'Havoc' Minor, they had the UK small van scene by the short and curlies.

I recall a guy called "Disco Des" was selling it some time in the early 80s. Maybe a subsequent owner? I dunno. Maybe I'm making Les into Des.

Hmm, are the wheels a little big on the Cortina? Something doesn't gel for me on what should be a very cool car. Modern 17s? Might look cooler on old 15s?
The Bond is suffering from lack of holes in the floor. They don't fill up when they've got holes.

smaller wheels wouldn't have gone over the HUGE front brakes. Rears were drums though IIRC

Not my Starlet sadly (very clean that one) but I do know Dean who owns it, was running a Stockrod race engine, but believe it's now got a 2l Zetec in it.
