Can anyone recommend which rattle can spray paint I should lok for ? I'm doing various underbody brackets, subframes etc.
I'll find penance pictures later as I'm at work right now!

Any particular colour? I use enamel mixed to whatever colour I want from a local paint shop for £4 a tin. Nice hard finish so it doesn't fall off.

IMHO if you use ANY Acrylic (water based) rattlecan, don't expect it to last much more than 3 months. It's rubbish. There was a reason we used to use Cellulose based paint !
I would aim to use the more expensive solvent/enamel paints such as hammerite, u-pol etc

Also tbh, using a spray can under a car is a fail, I've tried it and because you have to keep the can upright it's really tricky to get to some bits and you tend to get gassed if you're under the car as well, much easier just to use a brush and slop it on nice and thick. like so...

Acrylic is solvent based?
Anyway, I have used a bunch and I find I like them all pretty much the same. Get a good primer on there and prep it properly is the key. No pun intended.

Do yourself a flavour and pick up a Plasti-Kote Aerosol Trigger or two when you're buying your paint.
As far as brands go, I'm finding Halfords aerosols to be really good at present, nice high pressure and no spitting. U-Pol Power Cans, on the other hand, have been U-Pol Dribble Cans in my experience. Utter poop...

I tried some Wilkinsons Blue paint on suspension parts, and wish I hadn't. the paint sprays ok, but its not solvent resistant. it comes off with panel wipe (used for prepping panels before painting) and white spirit.

I've always found Hammerite/Smoothrite expensive and prone to chipping easily.

Aerosols are not at all ideal for any under body or chassis parts, but if you have to, then order up some aerosol chassis black, you can get it on eBay and places. Failing that, hammerite smooth probably 2nd best, but a long way behind. Cheap aerosols are a waste of time, however much you put on.

I've always found Hammerite/Smoothrite expensive and prone to chipping easily. That's weird, I've always found it pretty solid and hard to chip, especially if you brush it on thickly.

Not if you take the parts off. If you have a stripped subframe & suspension you can do it with spray cans.
