Currently clearing My Wifes Grandfathers former yard - contains loads of car parts ( although anything Vw has already been removed by me ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) However there are loads of bits for other classics so anyone on here who is into classics may benefit from a visit - we are clearing the site to redevelop so EVERYTHING has to go - Details below, ![](http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~bfp/Waterlaneflyerweb.jpg) You may have seen this advertised in last months practical classics - we are hoping to get as much sold off as possible as anything left after the open week will have to get weighed in - subsequently everything is at VERY reasonable prices !! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Anything for a 1970 hillman hunter? I'm after a clutch kit mostly but also, parts for an engine rebuild like, piston rings, gaskets, the bearings or shims were the conrods are attached to the crank, etc.

Unfortunately its more of a come and have a look situation - I have seen hunter gearboxes and engine bits but there is so much stuff its impossible to know exactly what we have - the only thing I will say is we don't have much in the way of body panels or bulky items like interiors although we have lots of instruments

I'm very tempted to come and have a rummage - my sister lives near there so it's great excuse for a thinly veiled scrappy trip family visit! ;D

I don't know if I'd be able to make it, but if there are ANY bits for NSU Ro80 I'd really like to know - if anyone spots anything please message me and I'll do everything I can to get up there.
Absolutely anything is of interest, including parts of body panels (though I'd struggle to move them!).

I visited the yard yesterday and was left gobsmacked by the amount of stuff they had. Unfortunately most of it will be going to the scrapman next week.
I'll list some of the stuff I saw.
Engines/engine parts (most engines were long blogs lacking manifolds/accessories)
2 x Humber Supersnipe/Imperial 6 cylinder engines 6-10 x VW air cooled lumps or parts thereoff 1 x Vauxhall Cresta 6 cylinder engine 3 x Triumph 6 cylinder emgines (Vitesse I believe) 1 Rootes 4cyl iron head engine 1 Rootes 4cyl short engine 1 Austin 10 engine 1 Citroen (DS?) engine 1 Simca 1100 engine 2 Pintos 6-12 A series 1 Humber Hawk Engine 2-3 jaguar or Daimler XK engines (partially dismantled or short engines only) Lots of other engines that I didn't recognize.
Gearboxes I recognized a few Rootes gearboxes, and some BMC stuff as well. Lots of others that I didn't recognize Many of the gearboxes had overdrives (I doubt any of the stuff would be in working condition though) There was a transaxle that I couldn't identify (thought it might be from a Fiat/Alfa of some sort) and what I think were VW transaxles
Differentials Some complete axles and dozens of rear diffs.
Carbs Huges numbers of carbs - SUs, Strombergs, Zeniths. I picked up 5 Rootes manifolds complete with carbs. These came off a shelf of inlets and carbs. There were many buckets of more carbs. There were several twin SU manifolds with carbs still attached - not sure wha they were off of, although some might have been for Volvos.
Connecting Rods Dozens upon dozens hanging from the ceiling in one of the buildings
Cylinder heads I saw a couple of Rootes alloy heads, one or two heads for a Datsun 1200 (labelled) and lots more that I didn't recognize.
Body Panels Two Hillman Minx fibreglass wings 1 Riley 2.5 front wing (SOLD) I think some mid 1960s Ford wings A bunch of Grilles including a fair number for vauxhalls, and rootes, and some MG Farina? ones? Some older stuff dating from mid 50s as well as one really old one (appeared to be copper) A pair of wings for a Rover 2000
Other Boxes/drawers full of old instruments - speedos etc - there was too much to go through but I guess many would have dated back to the 1930s.
Boxes of headlight trims
Boxes/drawers full of taillight/turn signal lenses
Dozens of 1920-1930s vintage steering columns
Dozens of steering wheels including some old banjo style ones.
Even the containers that a lot of the stuff is stored must be worth something - in the engine shed there were a lot of large old oil barrels (not huge - maybe 5-10 gallons) that were sat on shelves full of stuff. There were ammo boxes, and other hinged metal boxes, wooden boxes, I even found three jerry cans on one of the buildings.
Like a complete muppet I forgot to bring my camera, but I'd urge anyone who can get up there this week before Friday to do so - even if you don't buy anything it's an amazing sight.
Nothing against the original poster, but I think the clearance of this place could have been handled in a much better manner that would have resulted in most of the items being save rather than scrapped as currently seems the case. There was hardly anyone there yesterday - maybe four or five groups came through (including a chap from Rimmer Bros) whilst I was there in the afternoon. Apparently it's been advertised on a few forums and by local leafletting and it's pretty clear that he's going to move hardly any of it by Friday. They really should have had an auctioneer in, had it catalogued and then auctioned if off after some proper advertising - as it is I'm guessing he's going to send £1000s off to the scrap men. The phrase "it's a sin" passed from a few lips yesterday.
I'd urge you all to go down and at least have a look if you can.

I'd go grab a boot load of autojumble if I had an idea how well a "fill my boot with junk for £x" type deal would work out...

His prices were pretty good not that cheap unfortunately. I paid £70 for three grilles, 5 manifolds complete with carbs and 2 bare inlet manifolds. He also threw in a metal box with hinged lid.
It might get cheaper as the end of the week approaches.
