This actually just made me go "wooooaaahhhh" out loud, my wife is looking at me funny! What else are you going to do with a rusty MGB and a jag v12? www.mgexperience.net/phorum/read.php?41,1540381,page=1

running a V12 isn't it, I swear it cropped up on here before in the middle of another thread and someone said it was v12 but not much else in the way of detail :/

Incredible! Thanks for posting this, it's great! Now, I'm no engineer so someone can hopefully put me right here, but is all that "swiss cheesing" of the chassis not going to significantly weaken the structure? I'm only going off the "if it looks right, it probably is right" rule of thumb I often use, and that to me looks excessive. But I'm no expert and I'm probably wrong. Very impressive build! Can't wait to see that monster finished!

I keep wincing at some of the technical mistakes/issues reading through the build thread, I hope a lot of it gets picked up on and corrected in the later pages I haven't got to yet. On a looks and principle basis though it's simply awesome ;D Happy to say things are getting better the more I read

Turned out the bottom end got ruined due to excessive axial load from the gearbox. So he's considering swapping it out for a v8. He's not the first to do it though. Can't find any info apart from these pictures.

Looks good to me, some bits aren't perfect but when you're trying to cram everything in it's not easy.

Having just looked closer at that first pic, I am resonably scared of the amount of shear loading going through those coil over chassis mounts, they are usually only in compression on an R1 (the source of the dampers) :/
Still loving that front tyre fitment!

Fantastic idea that one! There are a few bits that get my engineer brains cells worried. The swiss cheesing isn't one of them so much as much of the loading on the rails is well enough braced and those rails will still be pretty stiff in vertical bend, though I'd have the holes swaged. It's more the lack of another bar extending from the bulkhead area to the front giving an upper link, but it'll probably be fine for what the car is being used for. Plus all the shear loading of various brackets/bushes/suspension parts etc. Balls out driving with those tyres could probably snap a few things, but that's what development of shed engineered car's is all about, just got to hope the failures don't kill you! All in though, don't half look awesome!
