Hi everybody, I was wondering if anyone travels from Epsom, Surrey to Birmingham and would to be able to collect and deliver a engine, assuming I win it of course. There would be no rush for the engine as such so if anyone had room to store it for a while that would be cool Much respect and some beer tokens would be forthcoming for anyone who could assist Here is what I'm thinking of bidding on, Turbo Twink, it's not too far from Brum, but the fuel or delivery charge would bump the price up a bit and I'm feeling a bit poor at the moment Ps Possibly stupid question but as the Delta was transverse engined and I want to stick it into a RWD car would that engine have the engine mounts in the right place?

I think Palletline and other courier services deliver engines, you need it drained of fluid, wrapped in clingfilm and on a pallet though.. cost is about £50-£100 depending who you speak to

Hmm, I picked my old Capri's V8 on the back of high transit flatbed with lift tailgate from a hire place:O Drove careful as it was just resting again cab, then me and my equally weedy mate dragged it off grabbing a header each. hillarious! ;D

Are you going to have gearbox issues with this being a fwd/transverse type unit? Or will it bolt up to your lada gearbox? If the mounts aren't right, it's a case of some good measuring and a bit of trial and error, then machine some up

Me and street hired a small Vauxhall Combi to pick up my Merc V8 and gearbox. We were lucky that the seller was storing it at his workplace - a plant hire shop. We craned it in on one of those mini-digger things. If it had been at his house we'd have been screwed as it weighs a tonne. The drive back was... interesting, as the engine wasn't secured, it just slid around on every bend and sent the handling all askew as it slammed into the side of the van ;D The van was about £30, plus the diesel (not all that much really)

Great minds think alike ;D Oh yes! ;D When we got home we slid it onto a plank and down onto the floor. A bit hairy really as we didn't want a great lump of Stuttgarts finest iron and alloy landing on our feet

got my RV8 delivered from london to doncaster for £55 - overnight too... very good i thought...

If the mounts aren't right, it's a case of some good measuring and a bit of trial and error, then machine some up Not sure about the gearbox issue, so I have asked the twin cam legend that is Guy Croft on his forum, he should know the answer ;D I think I may just drive and pick the engine up if no one makes an Surrey to Brum run with suitable transport, the boot on the Lada is huge If the Lada box bolts straight up then that should mean a Fiat 132 RWD box will also bolt up so if or when the Lada box goes kaboom from the extra power (Lada about 80BHP, HF turbo engine 130BHP, over 50% extra power ) I will have a more suitable box lined up hopefully.
