As title, what should i expect to pay for a saloon/hatch or a 360, tax and moted with good bodywork? Would have to be a 1.4 due to insurance and 5 speed if possible. Found a 360 nearish to me and was going to give it a knock but wouldnt no what to offer. Ive searched ebay and the likes and although theres not many about the ones i do find seem to range from affordable (£200-£300) and some others getting on a grand. While I'm here if anyones far far down south with something that meets the bill please pm me to save making a wanted thread. Thanks

If you buy it from somebody who's not an enthusiast £150-£250, if you buy from an enthusiast £600-£1000. They're still in the stage where some people think they're old bangers but there is a growing scene surrounding them hence the price difference.
Are you fairly young? They're not great cars as standard but can be brilliant with engine conversions and mods.

Ive always bought from enthusiasts, always bought good ones (Ive had 5) and never paid more than £400. However, stripped out, hammered, welded diff, crusty items seem to be a constant on ebay. Usually at £700+ Must cost a lot to take the seats out, chop the springs and rattle can them matt black. I'm not commenting on taste, just the prices ive seen. Of the cars themselves, they're good cars from standard if you want a daily runner. But if you want motorsport or drifting out of one, you will want a few mods really. Hope some of that helps.

I was thinking more of avoiding ebay, as even shitters seem to fetch good money on there as you say.
I had a 360 GLT and I wouldn't say it was good, for the performance model of the range it was very slow and heavy on fuel.
Oh and offer £100 and see what they say. There's a 340 1.4 saloon over the road from me thats been stood for 6 years. The guy still won't sell as he's "restoring" it. There's a Moggy Traveller infront of it on the drive that is pretty much bent in half because its so rotten, so i'm assuming the Volvo will end up the same.

Cheers for the replys, things I wanted to hear I know it'll be more than a £100 as its still on the road but I shall try. I'm 17 and get a years ncb in october hopefully so unless its a 1.4 it wont be any good to me anyways. Bit of research and id be interested in doing the welded diff and landy 90 shocks on the rear(?) Cheers EDIT : Any ideas on how bad on fuel? My Mk2 polo rinses me as it is but shes running seriously rich. Plus island roads don't help.

The 343 I had was the least economical car I've ever owned. Mind you, it was also the cheapest car with an MOT in Loot that week and the carb was utterly fubar which had something to do with it. You should be getting mid30s from a 1.4. Only had it a few weeks but from memory the driving posiion wasn't bad, the gearbox was nice and it was great fun in the snow.

Bad news D: Went and knocked, its not for sale but he has one that is. Goes round the corner and theres a 340 sitting there. 1989, 26,000 from new with proof. 1.7 and this thing is absouloutly emaculate. Pops the bonnet and its clean enough to eat off. I was honest with him saying that its unlikely that ill afford the insurance, (Which ive checked now and lets say its not lol) i ask what the damage would be, yerars mot and 6months tax £1350.
So if anyone wants it its on the isle of wight but can pass on the blokes number (After ive spoken to him obviusly)
So has anyone got a 1.4 down south they wana sell me for peanuts haha
