Having taken my reliable daily driver to C.A.R.S I foolishly thought I would have no trouble getting there and back, I left for home at about 4:30, at 5pm just outside Northampton my car shat itself leaving my stranded in a lay-by on the A43, not to much of an inconvenience I thought as I have RAC cover, well 4 hours later I was understandably quite f%cked off sitting in a lay-by strewn with used nappies and stinking of p1ss with a river of coolant poring from my exhaust, I had to call the RAC 5 times to persuade them to pick me up, I was eventually picked up at gone 10pm and got home at midnight To make matters worse I was on my own very bored and had no water as I'd put the last few drops in the rad before I noticed the raw antifreeze outlet in the place normally occupied by my exhaust pipe. Anyway CARS was good

That sucks mate, did they give a reason as to why they were so long ?? or just a lot of broken down retro cars on the side of the motorway

Ouch!
Could have been worse it took Adam (yellow Dolly with grey front wings) 10 hours to get to CARS, after breaking down 2 or 3 times and having to call breakdown services once!
Hope he got back in one piece! ;D

the exact same thing happened to me. same 5 hour wait. luckily i broke down outside tesco 10 mins before closing so i got something to eat and drink. plus i was near a horse field so i had some sort of company.
the reason the RAC chap gave me was: they work non stop all day and after 6 hours they legally have to take a break. because they all take their breaks after 6 hours the jobs build up when no ones around leading to a massive backlog in the afternoon. the guy was very helpful and honest so iv no reason to doubt him.

surely they should have people on staggered breaks or start times? Thats pretty cack.
I've had bad response times from the AA as well recently and have heard of both AA and RAC with wait times running into like half a day and the like.
Thats just cack.

one thing the guy said that cheered me up was that if it would have been a modern car, their usual routine involves a quick glance and then straight on the trailor ;D whereas older cars can usually be fixed on the roadside. plus he seemed quite surprised at how clean the interior was. i never thought id hear that about my golf!

my favourote quote is when a chap I know from somewhere actually told the AA call centre just t send a truck because "We'll I'm holding one of the pistons in my hand as I speak". They still sent a man in a little van who then called the transporter and yup, another hours wait for that.
Some chums of mine got in an incident in a Ford Ka and totalled it. AA sent a van to tow them home even though they had said it can't be towed as all 4 wheels are pointing in different directions!

Well the 5 hour wait turned out worth while as it was up for renewal in 2 days time, they have offered free membership for all five people covered by our policy for a year, thats about £300 worth which works out at about £40 per hour, not bad really.
Let that be a lesson to anyone who recieves bad service from one of the recovery giants!

Dave, you need to keep a wig and some lipstick in the car. Vic's mother put Diesel in her Micra, the RAC were there in 20 minutes as she was a lone female. Being a woman on your own in the Asda car park in the middle of the day is of course a very dangerous place...
Also, yes, I admit I might have had something to do with making your dodgy Primera, but I don't think any amount of pre-production testing can replicate your 'enthusiastic' driving style...
