The idea is apparently to simulate 30 years of neglect. Interesting idea but actually it just looks like someone sanded some of the paint off it in random places, yesterday. I think the idea could have been better carried through if they'd painted it with slightly matt celly, in a period colour, in a damp/cold environment to encourage microblistering. And then stained some panel edges with rust. Can't argue with the performance though.  |

this is going to sound like i'm being negative so sorry in advance but as i see it its a kinda floored concept really . i get the performance side of it but a patina'd 2010 car it can only look fake because that's all it can possibly be and for that i'm afraid its lost on me really don't see the reasoning behind it same goes for most fake patina'd cars really . as i said though i can fully understand and appreciate the performance side so not a totally negative reply from me ;D

not for me i am afraid, i am not against manufactured rat, but it has been done badly on that in my opinion, the sanding has been done too much, i think thats what lets it down 804bhp at the wheels is a win though |

I'd like to think its almost a very expensive pee-take on the whole faux-rat scene. That I'd like. I'm really not sure. Its an expensive joke if thats what it is. But some of these guys have money to indulge such whims. I suspect the driveline could end up in a replacement shell in a year or when he wants a new look for it.
I really dunno.

I don't want to like it but i do, I think it's been done for a laugh and because he can, if I were that wealthy I would consider doing something similar..
It's a current mass produced modern and not even a particularly expensive one at that I'd have absolutely no qualms about treating it like sh1t... I'd be happy to do something like this, whereas I wouldn’t dream of doing it to a real classic..

I don't have a massive problem with faux patina...in many cases it's an interesting (in some cases, clever) angle on paintwork. There's plenty more new Camaros in the world (that we aren't talking about on RR, incidentally).
Would I have this paintjob over a bog-stock red one? Very likely. Would I have it over a cleverly designed two-toned example with some neat graphics? No.
I'm pleased this car exists. Well done owner.

That video is insane!!! The way it just goes from nothing to wide open in a nanosecond!! Never heard a V8 rev like that anywhere this side of a topfueler!
Also as much as I'm not a fan of the whole fake "patina" thing. Its probably taken alot of time and effort to get it like that... So hardly done on a whim, In which case i actually quite like it as a funny take on the way these sort of cars are usually built..

I agree, but there's good fake patina, I know of cars that have had things like pepsi sprayed onto still wet paint, talc powder dusted onto tacky paint, all sorts of ingenious ways to try and age the paint. Far better than going over it with some 200 grit, hitting it with a hammer and writing on it with a marker pan. But saying that, it's a modern car, any patina's going to look fake on it  If it's been done for sh!ts and giggles, as I suspect and hope it has, then I can see the point. There's prob quite a few modern muscle cars in the states sporting foose-esq paint jobs and big billet rims, at least this will stand out. |
