	My friend has asked me to offer his much loved Polo 6N for sale for him! The car is a 1.9D CL (Non turbo with the AEF engine), I think there is 138000 miles on it but does have issues so will need to be towed away! To start with I will list the good bits first It's all in one piece There's 1/4 tank of Diesel in it Taxed till 31/07/2011 M.O.T till December 2011 Has 4 Good Tyre's Has just had a new Aux drive belt fitted (which was a horrid job) Had BOTH rear wheel bearings last year Had a new diesel filter last year and hasn't done many miles since No advisories on last 2 M.O.T's Doesn't smoke when running Now the bad bits ... Needs a heater matrix The starter Motor earth cable has melted and it definitely needs a new starter motor The engine turns over but you have to get someone to hold down the earth strap on the starter (while it tries to set fire to itself) but for some reason won't fire up! We think it may need new front wheel bearings The front wings are rusty on the edges and need replacing/repairing Now I will get to the engine issue, I tried to get the engine running earlier today but had little success. The missing aux belt was replaced (the car hasn't been run for 4 weeks since the last one snapped and was recovered home), once the new belt was fitted and the battery was charged it started first turn of the key and sounded very healthy, After a minute of letting it run I pressed the accelerator and as I did it immediately stopped running, No drama, no noises, it just stopped... since then all it will do is turn over constantly and not fire up! Diesel is getting through and there seems to be good compression but no life! We can only think that the timing belt has slipped a tooth or the diesel pump timing has slipped off! This is the reason my friend is selling the car as neither of us know diesel engines very well, up to now the car has been extremely reliable and never really had much in the way of mechanical problems! I'm not sure if it's a 1996 or a 1997 but it's on a P registration and all the paperwork is present .. V5, MOT etc The car has to be moved by Tuesday as my friend is going over to Spain for a holiday and doesn't want it to just be sat there!!! He wants £200 NO OFFERS for it and considering the tax that's left on there and the length of the MOT I think this is fair! PM ME IF YOUR INTERESTED AND LEAVE A CONTACT NUMBER I WILL RING YOU BACK!! 	Mate,that's more likely a fuel issue than anything else,had EXACTLY the same problem with my tdi passat,there's a curse word plastic widget thing on top of the DERV filter that is like a one way valve,abysmal design really.what can happen very easily is that when you tighten up the tiny little 6-7mm nut,the edge of the widget housing cracks,it's so easy to do it's unreal,it then draws air in and won't rev.mine wouldn't even start then from a tow and I realised it needed a new widget, Their about £18 from vw which is ridiculous really. BUT. I converted mine to a focus tdi filter which was simple to do and the car then started on the button at all times.

	Hope this helps,as I'd be very doubtful the belts slipped at all if you've had it running. Yours may go off a tow and you can at least prove it out. Great little cars those as well,it won't hang around long.

	Got no tow eye for the front so can't tow it, tried bumping it but wont go, I did the derv filter and I am 100% sure it's not broken... we have fuel at all of the injectors and a good healthy flow through the pump! wish it was that simple of a problem. think the derv filter is different on a passat the polo is secured with an R clip not a nut still not sold yet hope someone wants this

	Ahh,shame that,really good bargain still for someone though,even if the belt has slipped those engines are pence,might even be non contact?

	If you mean non interference it's not If it is the belt that has slipped it's only gone one tooth I think, there's been no noise of valves hitting anything . Just to add i got the RAC out to it to see what they thought ... they put a boost pack on the battery and sprayed in cold start while i was turning it over. apart from the obligatory starter motor smoke (really does need a new one) it turned over really freely and every time it fired it kicked back rather than started. This confirms the slipped belt theory i think! Maybe drop a belt on and it will run again but I don't have the time for that the car is going to scrap on wednesday and my friend is cashing the Tax in if it's not sold by then!
