That looks like a Holden VL Calais to me. Late 80's model. If I'm not mistaken the factory Calais' had turbo 6 cylinder Nissan engines in them. It does seem somewhat sacriligious to put a Ford engine in one though.....

yeah, thats a "barra" motor from an aussie falcon. 4litre with up to 317 kw from factory in a '86-'88 VL commodore, which had Nissan RB30 turbo in from factory. This one used to be mine. Alll standard manifolds and turbo made 300 rwhp In Aus at the moment folks are going mad for turbos and mega hp. example 440 cu.in 105mm turbo 1500hp street car

Travesty or not, putting that Ford engine in anything is well worth it! They're absolute beasts! A 4 litre straight six with DOHC and factory turbo options, what's not to love? All indications are that the stock bottom end is good for massive power in the same league as a 2JZ, but they're newer than a 2JZ and much bigger so they can spool up a big turbo quickly at relatively low rpm. An RB30ET (stock VL turbo motor) could definitely achieve the same power output, but it wouldn't have the low-down grunt which that extra litre of displacement gives. As they say, there's no substitute for cubes.
