I upgraded to Firefox 4 recently, and since then RR and some other sites don't display characters correctly - the £ pound sign, for example, will be a question-mark in a diamond.
If I go to View --> Character Encoding and then change it from Unicode (UTF-8) to Western (ISO-8859-1) it displays things properly, but as soon as I navigate away it'll return to Unicode.
I'm in way over my head with this kind of thing - I can't seem to find a carburettor on my laptop.
*Edit* I've just noticed that it doesn't always do it. It's now showing all the text normally and is in Unicode mode. I are confused.

I hear a lot of moans about FF4. What OS are you using? I've stick with FF3.6 on both Ubuntu and Windows Vista machines.
Not a lot of help I know. I'm waiting for 4.1 before I upgrade, I think we are on 4.0.1 now?
I would try clearing all your temporary internet files, all your OS temp files, checking settings then.
Sometime you fix stuff but a cached version of the page is opened with the old incorrect layout so make sure thats not the problem

I'm running old-fashioned XP. I managed to sort the problem by going to View > Character Encoding > Auto-Detect > Universal. I don't know why but this setting got changed when I upgraded to FF4. Still, it's working OK now. I've not had any other problems with FF4 although I've been tempted to try Chrome seeing as it seems so popular!

try it, but beware, once its on your PC you can't uninstall it or use another browser as your default without it causing problems.
I remember XP, just about, LOL.
