Borrowed this from the NSRA forum, I'm sure rottenpop won't mind Take one old 4 door Belvedere. Strip it and comence cutting. Looking like a full size 1/25th scale kit. One A/Fx to go. Mika getting to grips with his launch technique. Well cool!

Saw that this morning and thought WOW.
I'm sure I've seen photos of that as a work in progress a while ago.
Proper old school ripper.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

weight transfer. old suspension & tyres back in the day wasn't all it is now so other creative sollutions came to play like gassers and A/FX and jacked up street freaks and all that.

Brilliant! Proper-like! As Jonny says it looks just like a model kit in the chassis shot. I know 'cos I put together an A/FX Pontiac a couple of years ago! My understanding is that the A/FX (factory experimental) class grew out of the Super Stock and other stock eliminator classes in around '61 or '62. I don't think the altered wheelbase thing came in until a couple of years later (obviously they were allowed more mods than in the stock classes) and the factories had heavy involvment, making small quantities of engines and parts eg Fords 427 cammer engine which could rev over 8000rpm, made 600hp and which was banned by NASCAR. ;D

johnny69 in da house: One A/Fx to go.
If I only had the time I would once again build a Gasser or A/FX car from an early 60's grocery getter, how about doing exactly that with a 4-door Amazon or an early 144 just to be different.....
DP says: All this FX & Gasser stuff is getting to me.............

That is sweet as. Beautiful workmanship too. Wish I could keep my workshop that tidy when working... you can barely find anywhere to walk in mine at the moment, there's so many tools on the floor

Can't say I have, though I know a few people who probably would have heard about it. Having said that, Auckland is at the other end of the country so it's possible it went un-noticed around these parts. We have our fair share of old cars and silly mods in these here parts, HYUK! ;D
