The thread- retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=90280&page=12A good useable daily car, good on fuel and cheap insurance. I'm just bored with it and fancy somthing else. It goes over speed bumps with ease, through pot holes ok and you can fit garden furniture from ikea in the back. Its easy to work on and parts are cheap from my mate. Good all round car. A nice comment from a stranger everytime you fill up and somtimes they are good looking females. It has 6 months tax and 8 months mot. Just had new disks and pads, tracking, wheel bearing so it now drives like a car (a 26 year old one)

In fairness scrub my reply, the car I have is honestly worth less than the 944, I didn't expect it to be so tidy.

I have been watching 944s on ebay and the prices seem to vary wildly, for this reason I have no idea what it is worth!
I was thinking around maybe £1500?

Quite a bit more than that I'm afraid.
Id ask £1500 if it was this tidy but standard. With the recaros, private plate, Azevs, turbo suspension & brakes and other touches i place it around £2800 - 3k.
The wheels are easily worth £800, seats would fetch £500+ (964 items) a full scripted brembo set up is about £350 so it would break for more with ease.

Fair enough dude!
I didn't realise you had 928 GT brakes on it etc... To be fair I valued the car around £1100 ish plus maybe £400 for the wheels - Azev A's weren't £800 last time I checked (which was a while ago!)
Good luck with the sale - For that kind of money I would be more inclined to buy another well sorted stock 928 but I have always fancied a tidy '44!

If you read my post I was talking about a stock car without the wheels.
And yes, if you have a look at what they are currently making you will see I am not being unrealistic. Just because it's a Porsche doesn't mean it is suddenly massively valuable!
Yes it's been tidied up and has nice wheels, better stock suspension and 928 brakes but that doesn't change the fact that you can buy a tidy standard one for £1000-£1500 without too much hassle.
... And I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just fact. (look at the price of 928s, which are genuine supercars, if you don't believe me)

Chris1 didnt get it but repyed anyway Vitesse & Mibs thankyou. Gazdon - sorry not my thing....if it was a capri 2.8 though... Funkula, 944 turbo brakes not 928, rebuilt not tided up, and £1200 944's tend to be money pits and they may look good in the ebay pics but i can assure i found most are not hence building this one. The 928 looks ok its just a shame the car isnt as fast a the fuel gauge (nowhere near fast enough for a 4.7 porsche) plus i hate paying a premium for a manual version of somthing which is supposed to be a sports car. Sorry chap i have to clear these points up for other buyers who may read this.

Well I do, I've had a lot of them.
This 944 is a fantastic example hence why I withdrew my offer (which was incidentally a very rare Audi 90 20v Sport, it's surprising as it's actually more fun to drive than a 944 but no way is it worth 3k, 2k absolute tops) as the car I was offering to swap is worth about the same as a decent usable 944, but nowhere near what a car in this condition is worth.
Which to be honest will be it's biggest issue selling, as it is a non S2/Turbo yet approaching those prices, however I do think it will sell in a flash across Pistonheads and possibly some of the Porsche sites as condition is all.
OP, to be honest if you sell the car at 3k the buyer has a good deal, I'd probably be advertising it higher than that unless the pictures are particularly flattering!

And I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just fact. (look at the price of 928s, which are genuine supercars, if you don't believe me) I hate to say this, but most of the £1.5k 944s I have seen look tidy initially, but drive horribly and are full of rust (believe me, 944s can hide rust well if you don't know where to look). One car I was told that was good by 'enthusiasts' was a rotten, damp car with many corners cut around it. Recently, I'd say £2-2.5k will get you a tidy 2.5, and £3k+ for a tidy S2. A cheap one will always cost more than a pricey one. A 928 for £3k? Maybe my valuations on skewiff, but on TIPEC, many a cheap 928 has been nothing but trouble. A little like Kevin Leaper's from PPC...

Well, I've only had 4 928s. I haven't lost money on any of them, and 3 of them were under £3k. All were fantastic purchases! (and missed )
