Hi guys and girls, I want to post a couple of pics of my latest project on here, but I am a diabolical technophobe. (how the hell do you add pics?) She is an 89 Carina II that my dad owned since she was 3...thought it was about time I got in on a bit of Shakotan inspired retro action.... [/img]Not taking things too seriously. Just having fun. This car has done 127K and is in pretty good order all round. Just recently treated myself to the 7" Compos, off ebay, 13s, I love the scalextric look, and thought I'd have a bit of Tsurikawa fun as well. Got her lowered two weeks ago and had to shave and tip the inside lip on the rear arches. now no rubbing atall. interior is proper mint mink velour. Took her fully laden to the tip today to dispose of a dead tree...at least it was dead after I chopped it down. Got any words of encouragement? anyone else on here got a Carina

best bet is go to a site called photobucket.com and upload the pictures to there. when theyve uploaded copy the IMG url and paste it in your reply on here. Look forward to seeing the pics, always loved J tin and don't see many of the 80s carinas any more.

It is nice with wood trim in the interior of cars, but you're doing it all wrong! ;D

That looks really good! I don't think I've ever seen a hatch, only the saloon. The wheels are an unexpected choice but I think they really work. Very nice!

cheers guys. nice to read some encouraging words. ;D various things to change on her in the near future. The deep profile rubbers staying put after various earlier attempts with lower profiles. Theres a fair bit of stretch going on the front end cos they are 175 tyres on 7" wide rims, but the lower profile tyres looked a bit lost in the arches. hmmm. quite like that racer look, I know its not really de-rigeur with the J crowd, but I aint too bothered really. Shes quite low , not shakotan low obviously, but I go over about 11 speedbumps (no actually scratch that ...exactly 11...I have counted the buggers) when I drop my lad off at school in the morning so I can't really go any lower , also tried some wing mounted bullet mirrors, but think they looked a bit wonk (thats spelt wrong!) my favourite comment above was the J Nascar Taxicab one. (funnily enough she was used in a university film about 13 years ago as a taxi cab!...mint! wish I still had a copy!) plus the wood interior comment really made me laugh!! sweet, will post more pics as and when... plus started and moved the old Marina today...first time in six weeks (been cheating on her with the Carina!) I feel almost dirty..love the old girl. had her 18 years this year. here she is at last years retro rides at Yeovil. ..

Thanks Hirst! thats very nice of you! ;D Yeah, I had the stickers made up in 2001, when I took on the car as my daily driver after my Dad passed away. Then I drove her for five year until my son was born, when I bought a newish Avensis. The Carina had a little break, and even a couple of years living with a friend...but she came back to me in December 2010. But what a car this is. 23 years old and very very little rust, what a good old car she is. I think we have years ahead of us!! If you are interested I will take a good photo of the TOHC 16 graphic and post on here. cheers mate. all the best. heres my two girls again...and they are quite different..but in a strange way related...

Hello, I saw this sweet ride the other day. Not the Golf...the Fester. The Golf is well rude. I was trying to get a good pic of the sick 56 plate and the Golf got all up in my grille, and was like "back off man, thats like my lady" and I was like "okay man chill your rims, I just think she is sweet" and the Golf was like "is you seriously looking for a punch on the chin man? put your 'roid away" and I was like " No bred, chill your sweet wolfsburg ass down, look it's not like I is a Pap or anything, and I can see from here that she is wearing big granny pants, so we won't be catching a glimpse of any lids, so relax" and you know what the Golf did, he like totally squirted power steering fluid on my hush pups. I was like "daaaamnn Golf, you hasn't even got power steering, thats just sick" lots of love BIG DUB, respec to the Wilkins massive.

those carina IIs are actaully really gold old motors, they were very well loved here in Ireland. very reliabel and put up with a lot of abuse! Still a few of them around these days, lots still owned by old folks who get them years ago. I like the super tacky colour coded velour interiors, particularly the blue car/blue interior (as in dash, seats, door cards, steering wheel, gearknob, EVERYTHING!) and burgundy/wine car with matching burgundy interior combos the best. I would like another one. Though these days i'd want to fit a caina E 2.0TD engine or a camry 2.2td
