This is my Saab 96v4,I pulled it out of a field in Shropshire in 2006 and my mate towed it home for me. Its took 3 years to rebuild it and it has been back on the road for nearly three years. In that time a LOT has been done to it including, bare metal respray, loads of welding, reconned all the brakes, new suspension, polybushed all round, Jetex exhaust, 28/36 Weber, Blaupunkt stereo, Saab 900 seats, plus some more. Since it has been back on the road it has had a few more errm, lets say improvements, central locking, electric windows , Electric Power Steering column from a Corsa 1,2 SXI and Rover Fission Alloy wheels . There are still more ideas in the pipeline. Chris

That looks really sweet Have you done something with the hubs/brakes to run those wheels or did you just use adapters?

Thanks for the replys folks, looks like Teaboy found me photobucket . I have a very talented (and cheap, lol)father in law who is an engineer with his own factory and he made the hub adaptors. I did have a 1.6,16 valve Ford Zetec engine to put in but shelved it due to doing the steering ,wheels etc so now I am thinking of something else possibly a three cylinder turbo Volkswagen Deisel( ) don't know yet, I think I will wait till the V4 goes bang. When I bought it, Starting the stripdown, All welding done started repainting, The recon rear axle and front suspension, Back on its wheels, Engine back in, Resprayed (outside) and all fitted up, New front panel fitted, Last autumn, At the Ace Cafe , At the NEC Classic Car Show, In the snow, I have loads more photos that are mainly the work done to the power steering and electric windows. I had a '76 95 estate. The gearbox broke and I was told there was a semi official service method of flushing them out which I did to the replacement. Jack up car, put on axle stands and remove front wheels. Drain gearbox oil and refill with a parrafin & engine oil mixed 50:50. Run engine and move gearlever though all gears several times. Drain and refill with just engine oil before again selecting all gears with engine running. Then refill with normal gear oil. The reason, I was told, is some of the gearbox bearings are needle rollers and susceptible to seizing with the slightest contamination. The method above is recommended to flush out all traces of gunge, minute particels of metal from "wear and tear" etc.
