Just got back from picking up my newest toy, this rather splendid MK1 Astra 'povo', complete with flap-type boot, 1200cc of pure POWAAAR and just 54k from new! A bargain at £195!! I must just say a big thankyou to my (very) long suffering partner Sarah for driving me to the ar5e end of no-where (foulness military establishment t'other side of southend) to fetch it!! The car is proper bo, I tell thee.... Little diddy go-kart steering wheel makes it grin-inducing, and giving the ancient 1200 lump some beans to make good progress is a hoot. Add to that the fact that we got stuck in a mass jam on the M11, and while all around us (new BMW's Audi's etc.) were boiling over and breaking down, this thing just trundled on. KWAL! Here's some 'exclusive' pics!! Even all the interior is orange! w00t! Jobs in the short term (like tomorrow)... think I might try some different rims, as those ones aren't very nice... something wider, more dish, and of course 'better' offset should do the trick. I may also introduce the springs to my little friend the angle grinder too. Hawt! Longer term it will need some welding on the backs of the sills & wheelarches to please the man from the ministry, oh and probably some better brakes (they are SHAT!). And if anyone wants to bolt in an XE while i'm not looking, that would be nice thankyouplease! Enjoy, and recommendations are welcome

Yeah, unfortunately the bloke flogged the classics off separate, for about £30. Bummer Not a major disaster, I'll just have to go and have a rummage in my '4x100 Shed'

Arent those mk1 GTE alloys? Yup. Nice design etc, but they have the daft vauxhall 49mm offset or whatever, which simply will not do ;D Get some gash TSW 3-spokes and a set of headlight gimp masks on there to take us all back to 1994 Errrm, hows about no?

Not really gonna be a keeper. These things are fun to curse word about in for a few weeks, but my boredom threshold is very low. Quick tidy up, fresh MoT on it & sell it on most likely. If anyone wants 'first dibs', shout now I'll make sure it goes to CARS too, hopefully looking a bit better. I am gonna have a VERY busy week as I have to prep my BMW too... yikes!

that's what i love about that era of vauxhall - pick a colour and stick with it! You want an orange car sir? OK, then the interior will be orange too. You have no choice.
It's especially puke-inducing when the hues just happen to match perfectly, as happened on those old green mk2 cavs. theym ight as well have fitted the interior before sending it to the paint bay.

I say, good show old man. What a beaut; that colour scheme is ace and the spots suit it. Slammed and nice rims will just finish it off nicely.
