I'm starting to wonder you know. After hearing about everyone elses problems getting their cars ready for this years show, and thinking 'well i'm ok i've only got to lower it and it'll be ready', I went down the shops this morning to get a paper and managed to stuff the back of the merc into a bollard. What makes it worse it that i was accelerating in reverse at the the time so the damage is pretty bad. It needs a new rear bumper, bootlid , o/s/r light and a serious bit of pulling on the back panel. I cant even get the boot open at the moment to how bad the inside is.
God i'm curse word off. To make it worse i've been off work sick the last few days and i'm on antibiotics so i cant even go down the pub to soften the blow.
I'll post some pics of my foolishness later.

Arg bad luck mate. I know what you mean though - we've got 3 cars between us and NONE of them are up to the journey at the moment. The GiT keeps on breaking stuff, the Volvo has no MOT, and the Merc is pishing fuel still as I can't source carb parts. Buggeration.

LOL, my "problems" are down to me not starting this conversion before last weekend, and my commitments... And of course that little incident with the coolant tank before , but we'll leave that in the past. the wrong flywheel ain't the end of the world afterall is it?..., if I couldn't get another one, that would be bad, but I can.... Just wish it wasn't the first and second, if I had more time, I'd be OK..... never mind, I'll get there...

Its still drivable yeah, it just looks nasty, and its a pain in the ass cos the back end was perfect before. If i'd stuffed a rusty bit or somewhere that needed some work it wouldnt be so bad. I cant even think of anything i could do to improve the back end to justify it.

Just wish it wasn't the first and second, if I had more time, I'd be OK..... But you would have started later... My nightmare at the moment is the whole hassle of going to pick up a car that is currently in Swansea, driving it to London,.. doing a bit of tinkering (fingers crossed that all goes okay) and then driving to the show and back home,.. Stupid West Wiltshire county council and their lack of garages.

Seriously, I've been itching to do this since I got the parts , once this is done, I'm seriously considering putting the old Wasser Boxer in one of my beetles

Stupid West Wiltshire county council and their lack of garages. What? You mean you DIDN'T use moving house as the perfect excuse to get a pied a terre with en suite Datsun facilities? Silly boy Says he who moved from a house with a deluxe garage to one with no garage, parking or owt. THEN decided to buy an old car! DOH!!

Well, to lift your spirits, my Sprint moved under it's own power (sounds fugging ace too). Done all the hard work now, just got to drive it back to the garage to tinker tomorrow and service it Best of luck!

I hope it isn't cursed, as I'll be up at the crack of dawn to prep and spray the Rocco in time to affix the chex's and mooneye's stickers in the afternoon.....you never know I might even get round to fixing the blow on the exhaust that's been there for a year.........!
