hey guys! thought id put a couple pics of my polo on here, I got it in july last year off my friend. its a g reg polo coupe s 1.3 with 106,000 miles. heres how it was when I got it got some 70mm lowering springs for it and sprayed the wheels black aswell as smoked indicators: sanded my rocker cover down and painted a few bits on my engine to get it looking nice: got a maniflow backbox from a mini, and a new set of rear lights as mine had been melted somehow!: got an old alpine head unit off a friend cheap, so stuck the head unit in the dash and wired a playstation 2 up to it! pretty funny watching south park whilst driving.. haha after this, I thought about paint. the paint was nackerd around the arches and one wing was a different colour! so I thought id spray it with rattle cans! picked up 4 500ml cans of black from ebay for just 15 quid! so I got to work and this is how it ended up! also swapped my single light grill for a double set thought it looked pretty jokes, needs laquering still though to make it look shinier. anyway! my tyres were scrubbing soooo bad, and I managed to find some cheap low profiles so got them put on! no more scrubbing! also, at this point my standard shocks were buggerd from the drop, so I got some sports shocks + springs and had them fitted, this is how it looked! also blended the paint in a lil better didnt do much after that as I was a bit skint from the mot ect, but then I saw a swet of wheels on here that I had wanted for ages! couldnt miss out on them! so went on my first motorway drive in the polo and it performed really well! even got 110 out of it on the way back haha, not bad for a monster 55bhp.. so yeah, went and picked the wheels up off a nice guy on here, has a sweet mk1 golf that hes doing up aswell, cant wait to see it finished on here! so here are the wheels on the car, need a respray but I'm not too fussed atm and thats it for the mo! hopefully more to come, I'm after some engine parts atm so will keep updated! cheers! eric.

I'm pretty disillusioned with my 1050cc with about 35bhp! Haha. Would love a little bit more oomph in my bready. I prefer the mock up with the red. But I'd try a matte light blue colour.

yes sirr! the coupe, breadvan and saloon are the exact same everywhere from the front bumper up untill behind the doors. thats where they vary. your 1 litre should be 45 bhp, stick a 1.3 lump in there youll notice the difference straight away! and if you put a gt cam in there it should make a fair amount of power for what it is!

Ah that's what I thought, just wanted some confirmation. It's something I'm seriously going to have to consider! 120bph would be mental!

yeah man! if you tune the .3's right there rapid! mine had 80 bhp/ 114 bhp per tonne, so it was actually suprisingly fast! the 1.4 16v should be rediculous!

Nice work, couple of questions, is the 16v 1.4 the same mounting points as the orginal unit, so you just swapped the mounts over ?? also , what bike carbs have you used ?! Ta, going to get cracking on this soon....

Cool car! Strange that I noticed this thread today, I've just obtained an ABF on bike carbs to put in my mk2 coupe. Picking it up on Sunday, I can't wait. I imagine it'll be quite a while before I finally get it in the car though, it's freezing out there!
So what else you got planned?

Ta, going to get cracking on this soon.... hey, 2 of the mounts are on the gearbox, and i used the mk2 gearbox so its the same, the mount on the engine is in the same place but is only held by 2 bolts rather than three. ive used cbr600 carbs with 135 main jets and i made a manifold for them myself. cheers

So what else you got planned? abf is a golf gti engine isnt it? if so good luck fitting it! its a 'tall block' engine which means if you manage to get it mounted you probably either wont be able to shut the bonnet or the sump will be pretty close to the ground. i went for the afh as its an easy swap, not much bigger than standard and its good for 125 bhp if you use bike carbs.

Just got to stump up the wedge and find an engine, and it seems bike carb prices have gone mental, I brought my last set for £40..... :-o
