Circumstances (my wife actually) may force me to sell the Caddy. This I do not want to do. However...
So if I were looking for something to replace it as daily driver, what can I get for £1500?
Any examples of coolness fitting the following requirements...
It would have to be tax excempt. Mrs Ku's rule not mine.
It needs to be sprung like a whorehouse bed.
I would have to think it was cool.
Parts need to be easily available and cheap.
MPG not an issue. Insurance group not an issue.
I've thought I could probably locate a Mk4 Zodiac or Jag 420G for that money (neither in top form but meh)
Anyone got any examples of stuff actually for sale which may make this an easier battle to lose on the home front?
If nothing suitable is forthcoming I have to curse word it out with the Mrs. and keep the ol Fleetwood.

My current daily probably fits all your criteria, and owes me about your budget (plus some elbow grease). The only criteria I'm not sure it fits the 'I have to think it's cool' rule You'll pick up a good 2l or a ropey V8 for your money. I went for the V8 option I *love* your Fleetwood though

I was just about to say Rover P6!
Does Mrs Ku not like the Caddy? I thought it might be because it's heavy on the juice but in your criteria you say MPG isn't an issue. Women are fickle. ;D

If you're mentioning the P6, how about the stablemate, the Triumph 2.5.

P6 V8 is a pissibolity.
Triumphs are nice enough but not "me" I think. A Stag would be, but not in my budget.

Hairnet, is that just a random sample of eBay or what? emdee, I suspect both the interesting ones there will finish more than £1500. The Range Rover, hmm, no ta. Merc is sweet though. Can't see it on my drive though

The "reason" I have to sell the Caddy is "we can't afford to tax it" do you do many miles, if so, then get something less thirsty and tax paid for or use some of the £1500 budget to get tax i just picked up a silky smooth ls400 for just over £400 with a years mot, needs a little tlc, but wafts effortlessly and gets mid 20's mpg so not bad plus tax is only about £110 for 6 months and as its a 91 i got cheapo insurance too..

Mileage? Maybe 2 or 3 times a month I go to my parents which is about 25 miles away. I went to B&Q on Wednesday in it. 2 miles away I guess. The occasional sortie into town (6 miles away) maybe once a fortnight?
Mrs' point is that I could have used her car or the Trans Am for any or all of these journeys and taxing the Caddy is a waste of £118 every 6 months when I have to pay same to tax the Trans Am too.
I'm not in the mood for another modern anyway.

to me then answere dyour own question, use the trans am, i can partly see her logic, but then spend 1500 on another car surely is a waste of 1500 if spending say 800 and then save the other 700 for tax
i see where your coming from tho, tax exempt are cooler
wonder how long it'll be before 1 day tax or 1 week tax is available to purchase

She bakes great cakes. She suffers from "woman logic" from time to time. This road tax thing is her current bug.
Seth - how slow is a Cambridge auto going to be !!! That looks just like my grandfather's old one.
