I've been away for a couple of days in Wales on business and my wifes been using our new MK2 GTI for the first time to get to work, she's the other side of Ascot and had to come home at lunchtime and got stuck in all the Royal Ascot traffic, after a while the temp rose then the light started flashing so she pulled into a pub carpark and popped the bonnet to find a coolant hose split and leaking, she was about to ring me for advice when a bloke in late 60's Ferrari 365(I think) and got out to help. He was also getting a bit warm and sent her into the pub to get some drinks(he paid) and water to top up the coolant and cut the hose down and refixed it good as new, he hoped it would be ok as it was the same thing he'd had to do on his classic Maserati the other day I didn't think things like that happened anymore but it restores your faith in your fellow man, so if Mr Ferrari is out there, thanks for helping my wife out.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

What a nice story, don't expect to hear things like that these days! I stopped to help a few weeks ago when I saw three girls stranded at the side of the road in Chester with a pink Honda Jazz (!), flat tyre and semi-jacked up on a 'widowmaker' type OE jack. I had a chat with them to see if they wanted me to help but they said they were fine... so I just advised them to put the jack the other way up so the large 'foot' part was on the floor and not jammed against the sill of the car as they had it

Good story! I bet he told his chums in the gentlemans club all about it over a few G&T’s in the evening.
I stopped to help a lass with a wobbly battery terminal a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately her car was a sh1t old Orion and she had a face like a rucksack full of dented bells. Hey-ho.

i'm afraid he loses a few points in my eyes for boshing one of those 'w*nker flags' on his beautiful classic car.
Still, he got loads of points for helping a damsel in distress in the first place, so no great loss.

A nice story that, I have rarely found that people have helped me. When my Beetle Broke down on a very busy dual carriageway (around a corner from one!), I waited for almost half an hour hoping the car would fire up again. But then, a fellow Beetle owner (Jeans Beetle), decided to tow me (I had a rope in the car) to the nearest side street . Thanks to him I no longer was worrying about near misses, or even get hit! After a fw days the problem turned out to be a faulty Rotor arm which I got new (Everyone was thinking my carb was Icing up etc). After repairing it, the 1300 TP didn't half sing . Shame a fit bird in a beetle didn't help me when I broke down in Rugby once .
