Evening,
First up, not sure if this is retro enough, so feel free to move to budget motoring if the mods don't think so
Saxo VTR
MOT: December 2011
TAX: July 2011
Mileage: 116k
I bought 3 years ago as a standard car from a second hand car dealer in Manchester, it was standard and had been part ex'd against a newer car.
Since my possession the car has had many of the serviceable parts changed. I have spent a fair bit on making sure the car was right before carrying out any modifications, this included a lower mileage gear box (70k), re-con callipers, new discs/pads, radiator and , CV joints and a good service, new battery, all carried out by the same local garage I use.
Any modifications were then carried out by professionals, I have a receipt for £225 from ABP motor sport in Crewe who lowered the car and aligned the suspension up, this was just labour cost. I had it done properly to avoid the common dodgy ream beam issue, and the beam is still spot on. I supplied the shocks and springs which are Spax PSX adjustable's, its lowered 40mm all around, and sits nice and level.
It has anthracite VTS wheels, they all have decent tread, the front two tyres were new this year.
I bought a super sprint 2'inch pea shooter exhaust (cat back) new from from Kam racing, sounds great.
It has a JVC CD player.
Its gone though its last 3 MOT's with me, and it has passed every time.
The car pulls well, steering doesn’t pull to the side, and stops straight when you brake. It has no knocks coming from the suspension.
Its not a brand new car, so as expected it has a few stone chips here and there, if you look up close to the bonnet it has some, the last owner may have been abit of a tailgater! It also has the saxo leaky sunroof syndrome, the sunroof will need a new seal, the last time it rained it came in abit, so as a temporary fix I put Vaseline around the seal and it has stopped it. It was only suppose to be a temporary fix (I think a new seal is £15 from Citroen)
Due to the car being lowered, it is abit bumpy on country lanes, but get it on an a nice B road with good tarmac and the handling is spot on. If your used to lowered cars then you will know what I mean. If you did alot of motorway miles you may want to change the exhaust as it can become abit drowney, this is a saught after exhaust, that will go for good money over on the owners club, so you can get enough money for a standard system to replace it with, if thats more your thing.
Come and have a look for yourself.
I will be sad to see it go. Only reason for sale is I have saved up abit just purchased another frenchy
The car is ready to go and be used daily.
I am located in east cheshire, for referance I am only about 10 mins from Manchester Airport.
Any questions feel free to ask, I am off this week as I work in schools so can be around most of the time.
Thanks,
This was the car the day I got it as a standard example
