The paint on my 480 is shocking. I want to respray it myself in matt green (i know a bit odd but hey). I have seen a few golf in matt green and think it look the dogs. What is the best was to approach it?
I was going to sand down the whole car, then use a grey primer, then the matt green and finally a matt varnish.
As I am doing it matt I guess I could use cans (instead of a compressor etc) as the finish does not require the paint to be smooth?

I'd just give it a sand and spray without primer - you could do this and deliberatley not give full coverage with green so you get a bit of the black showing through.

robin480 in da house: As I am doing it matt I guess I could use cans as the finish does not require the paint to be smooth?Sure you can!!!! Just be verry carefull to cover every place where you go all the way down to bare metall with a gloss paint to seal off since the matt paint does not seal and will let moisture through but done right a "rattle can" paint can look quite good.... On the Skoda Shop Hack I sanded down the paint, well on the Skoda a Scotch Brite is enough to roughen up the paint, on all rust and bare metall I first went over with a "Rust Eater" then covered the spots with grey Hammerite to seal and the finsih coat was done with grey primer "rattle cans" and IMHO it looks decent...... DP says: It's all in the "ground work" how it turns out.....
