Hello everyone, as some of you may know on here, i have a Green Mk1 Granada, Silver Mk1 Fiesta, along with a Class One Autograss Mini...you would think this is enough cars for a 16 year old, yes? Nope, i went out and bought myself this little beauty yesterday! 2 very good, almost mint doors, 2 brand spanking new wings, a full set of spare glass, including a rear perspex window, and boxes and boxes of other bits! It's my first 'propper' project, and will be my daily when i pass my test (hopefully) next year. The car is very solid, the bed is not rotten, and only has a few minor dents. It needs a small amount of welding on the inner and outer arches, and a very small patch on the sill, but apart from that, it's sound! The plans are simple - Black paint, de-baded grille, some nice wheels, some sort of nice headlights (angel eye/crystal/etc), get it off the stilts, and just make it an all round tidy motor! There aren't many pictures of it yet, but i'll get round to putting some more up soon. The biggest problem is the engine ... there isn't one! it was originally a 1600 diesel, and i'm looking for an engine and box that will drop straight in - ideally one from another caddy, but if any other engines are an easy swap, i'd be interested if oyu have one, please let me know. Cheers everyone, and thanks for looking!

Looks like a solid base for a project thats for sure Can't help on the engine front I'm afraid, I would have thought any Golf engine would fit but I may be wrong

Just a thought but a lot of the Mk1 Golf boys use a 1300cc 5 speed Polo mk2/3 motor, Might help on the insurance front?

Here we are, some propper pictures! Got it home, on a recovery truck, that once belonged to us... and couldnt resist putting the lights and grille on.. But they soon came out, as there was more important stuff to do... like wire-wheel all the stonechip off the front panel! I'm about half way through doing that ATM, then there's the inner arches to finish, and the rear wheel arches to sort out, but after that, I got myself some new wheels... wasn't really sure on them, but I put 'em in place... and they didn't look bad... so on they went! i'm pretty happy with them now, i'm gunna get them done black when I can afford it... Thanks for looking, and expect some updates soon!

Right Lads And Lasses, it's been a while since i've updated on here, but to be honest, not alot's happened... I bought myself some stainless steel 'honeycomb' grilles, and a de-badged grille... Along with some red pedal covers... And also stickerbombed my petrol flap.. But in terms of anything structural, we chucked it on the back on the truck again.. Took it down the garage... And rolled 'er over! And that's about it for now... i'm gonna get some new sills welded on, and get any other welding sorted, then underseal all underneath and stuff like that! As well as that, we started looking for an engine, and ths cropped up cheap on eBay... We phoned him up, and asked him why it wouldnt run, he told us it was a problem with the carb - we thought it was doable, so chucked a bid in! Anyway, skip forward a few hours, and the car was mine! We arranged with my mate to get it dropped off the next day, so we were sitting outside our garage waiting, and he pulled up...but why was there a GTi badge on the boot? Yep, that right, it was a 1600 injection! No good to me at all for insurance purposes! So that's up for sale now, but, every cloud has a silver lining, right? Yes...i just bought a diesel engine, box and radiator, with loads of other bits for £50 - SCORE! Anyway, thats it for now, keep checking for updates!

Looks like a solid base for a project thats for sure Can't help on the engine front I'm afraid, I would have thought any Golf engine would fit but I may be wrong Caddys have the 'big block' mounts so the smaller 1.1 and 1.3 engines don't fit. 1.6 and above drop straight in

Nice one. Glad you got a diesel too, it's a commercial vehicle after all so a diesel suits it. I'd always thought I'd want a GTI motor in one of these, but then saw a mint low'n'slow Caddy at the Harewood VW show, immaculate body, diesel engine running perfectly smoothly and quietly (for a diesel!) and it changed my mind on them.

Lowering is overrated (I kid, I kid, but hear me out) - there's a lot to be said for not needing axle stands to work under the car ;D

^ very true! Some new stuff.... My progress yesterday concluded of a little bit of this... a little bit 'o that.. and this.. and today consisted of a little bit o' this.. a little bit o' that... some of this.... followed by some o' this... and finally, this.... (don't worry, the arches are getting sorted...and ocvvered with some JDM Arches...) we're finally getting somewhere now! and a little (VERY rough) teaser of what to expect soon...) The orange paint on the wheels is illuminous, and has been 'dribbled'... Comments are welcome, as always!
