Selling my 1999 VW Passat VR5 Sport.
This a 1999 car, on a 'V' plate finished in Silver.
It has MOT till October 2011 and it's taxed till the end of August.
The bodywork is in fantastic condition as shown in the photos, with absolutely no rust, damage or carpark dents whatsoever.
Inside it is nice and tidy, with the VR5 black half leather/ half alcantara sports seats. There are no rips, tears or bits of trim missing, and the driver's seat is height adjustable. This has the blue dashboard back lighting, which looks fantastic at night. It also benefits from having digital 'Climatronic' climate control rather than the usual air conditioning, electric windows all round, electric mirrors, remote central locking (which actually works!) and one of the best factory fitted sound systems of the time, with a fully working 6 disc multichanger. The boot is absolutely cavernous and the rear seats fold down, perfect for trips to Ikea. Sorry about that.
Mechanically, it's in good shape. The silky smooth 150bhp 5 cylinder engine purrs like a kitten and pulls like a train, with no strange noises. If you're driving Miss Daisy it'll push 40mpg too. The manual box shifts as it should and the clutch is fine.
I've had some of the front suspension replaced, all 4 upper arms and one lower, as well as brake discs and pads front and rear around 6 months ago. The ABS ecu has also been replaced (common fault on Passats and Audis) so it looks great and drives very nicely too.
As with any other 12 year old, 137k mile car, its not perfect.
There's a few stonechips, and marks on the alloys, and the power steering pump is a bit grumbly. It was like this when I bought it, and it hasn't got any worse since.
This big, comfortable, motorway muncher is in fantastic condition. It's quiet, refined and more individual than an A4 (sounds much better than a diesel!), and it'll swallow 5 adults and their luggage quite easily. I've travelled all over the country in it with no problems at all.
Drive it away for £995, or swap for a convertible, Saab, BMW or similar
