I need a new box for my Sunbeam. I have been told that Lotus Excel uses a Toyota gearbag from a 1983ish Supra. Question is, IS it a bolt up job or is there a special bellhousing required? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I would bet £50 that you would need a bellhsg from an Excel if you want to put a supra box in your Sunbeam. The Excel box is indeed a Toyota one but theres no way the Toyota engines and the Lotus Twin cam will have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
Plus you would no doubt have propshaft/clutch actuation issues to deal with.

I'm asssuming that your current box has the bellhousing cast into the main body of the box and is not a bolted on one?
