So far i have a black Volvo V40 T4 with tinted windows, pretty standard at the mo but I'm going to murder it out, this is my progress report so far :-) black sunstrip, black grill, and now black sidelights/indercators and a carbon BMC induction kit. and by next weekend i will have tinted the headlights and indercators and rear lights, de badged the back and taken off the roof rails, Next big thing will be to wrap the bonnet in carbon vinyl and I'm thinking the side strips and maybe boot and roof, (OPINIONS PLEASE on the boot rood and side strips) Oh and some matt black SHOCKER stickers as well as getting some bigger wheels that ii can powdercoat black! then come coilovers to get it niiiiice and LOW there you go murdered out family car :-) Have i missed anything out on the murdering out theme?

I'd paint the badges black rather than remove, but it'll look classy and mean when its all together.

You need to murder out all those stone chip marks.
And as you asked so nice for opinions; well i hate it think it could do without carbon and shocker stickers, and it's not exactly retro, and frankly i think it's quite bland, but that might be beacuse i see about 200 of them each day.
But as this is retro rides, and your're not allowed to say not-nice things about peoples cars, everything has potential and all that...
First of all, you're doing it in the wrong order. The biggest impact on a cars looks is stance and wheels, so start by lowering it. Properly low, not 60/40 low, brazilian low! Then fit cool wheels. Don't do big alloys, all v/s40's have those, go small(ish) and wide instead. As this is retrorides, do it the retrorides way, not the maxpower way. These are 4x108, right? You've got a huge selection of wheels. Have anyone ever seen alleycats on a v40? Or just some simple banded steels would be great! Black, obviously, but save the powdercoat money and get some spray cans and sandpaper instead. By now you should have quite a looker, now start with all those little plans you've got, cleaning it up, removing headlight wipers, roof rails "murdering it out" But please stay away from the carbon fibre vinyl and shocker stickers and i'm sure you'll do allright...

the wheels are 4x114.3 or something which limits it a bit i have been looking for a few its got the 16 BBS wheels at the mo just looks a bit under wheeled for such a bih car it needs some bigger deep dish wheels in black, I'm well aware I'm going things in the "wrong" order the its things i can do with little money at the mo, powde coating wont cost a penny as i do it my self so thats cool, and no car looks good low, it has to be stupid low, coilovers wound right down with a good stretch on the tires and the right spaceing. I'm no Max Power rude boiiiiiii and my cars reflect that, may not be to your taste but i like it and it will follow the theme I'm going for with out looking tacky and curse word, as for the stone chips thay are horrific and i need to deal with them quick snap.

4x114.3 is a lot of J tin I think? Honestly can't see that being much of a limit... These; I think would look pretty cool... Point still stands that a 99 Volvo isn't all that retro I'm afraid, BUT make it cool anyway and it won't matter all that much...

As for rims do you think smaller wide wheels will look good on a v40?

I reckon you need 18s at least and mega slam. It annoys me that everybody suggest smaller wheels on cars, makes em look like shopping trolleys. A car that was originally designed for 16" wheels with big ass tyres is never gonna suit some 14s no matter how low it is.

See that's my point it looks a bit under wheeled at the mo I'm thinking either 17's or 18" deep dish and a hefty slam :-) maybe some retro inspired wheels but bigger to mix it up?

I'm with Matt on this one. Modern cars have big arches, like HUGE arches. Ever seen an Audi A4 on small wheels? Or a Mk4/5 Golf? It looks pants. Personally, I'd be looking for a set of 19" Holstens. Paint them satin black, make them fit (adaptors) and slam. In fact, skip the whole 'murdered out' look (which is akin to gothic sickerbombing if not done 100% correctly) and leave the wheels silver for a clean exaggerated look. Imagine this look, but for once on a 'non-VAG' car, in black with silver rims. WIN! Please do it....

Murder look only works well if you are seriously low and have some pretty serious rims on too. Murder look done right is basically drug dealer chic but with matt paint.

I don't think i can pull off the VIP look on the Volvo unfortunately but i do love holstens or Audi A8 monoblocks :-) tje wheels will be black and the car will be on the sills trust me, i think i will pull off murdered out just wait and see, if people buy my things i have for sale it will happen much sooner lol :-) but big rims subtle touches and lots of black and big slam it will be cool

We just bought a black Surf, looking at it and knowing there are loads out there with knackered diesel engines i think you could either drop the body onto a 2wd hilux chassis and lower it or fit 2wd springs, that would suit the murdered out look, not that i'll be allowed to do that with our one, its to nice.
