Liking lots!
I think a welded diff on one of these might be a bit much for the poor old void bushes so probably a smart move not to use it.
I really must get on with my old Corty. Take a look at my website, I've put up details of the vented front brakes upgrade on there that might be of interest.
Regards,
Smiler.

Good luck with it Dan, Hope you have tough fingers mate. You are going to need them bud! Would be good to see it yellow again! Must have some heavy paint on there, took me ages will 1200 and t-cut to try and get some shine from the black paint. even got my 10 year old grafting on it. Keep coming with the updates.

No DA from Santa, the stingy git!To be honest I wasn't sure I wanted to use a DA anyway, as was worried it might take too much off, and go 'past' the yellow. Is quite tough going, but ill look like Mr Motivator soon(or one arm at least!). Ill have a look at your site Smiler, will be of interest.I'm really interested though in how to install a LSD. Cheers Frankie, fingers are tough, but my right hand looked like it'd been in the bath for hours by the time I'd finished. I did make more headway today, but didn't get a pic.Tommorow though.Hope your cars progressing too by the way.

any more updates on this ? Sorry, been a bit slow of late, I'm in the last push of fixing my house. Then all attentions on this and the Granada. Update is that the hand sanding was working, but I keep getting thin bits through the paint. So you can see whats under the yellow. This means that that panel will need painting. Not a problem, but if I get a bit like that on every panel, its basically a full respray! So, Ive changed tack a bit, and decided to paint the whole lot.So Ive bought a compressor, and decided to bravely/stupidly take on the task myself.Someone on here(cant remember who I'm afraid)made a really good thread on doing this, which has helped.I'm thinking, it needs doing anyway, so I cant make it much worse right? Ill keep you posted.

Yeah its coming along ok Dan, Slam panel welded in place, wingrail replaced, Upper front valance repaired, just needs some dressing and welding onto the car, bonnet found, got to do a patch on the drivers side wingrail, wing found, all dummied up and ready to go. Need to find a front bumper now. Good days work and she will be ready for painting. Then go through it and sort out the MOT as that runs out begining of march. Going to play with it this coming Friday (day off) and hopefully it will be sorted out. Will keep my eyes open, used to be several MK5's running round here with rear louvres a few years ago but they have all gone now.

So, not updated this for a bit, here's whats been happening. After making the decision to paint the whole car, I thought that to get around to doing it would take a while, and being a bit impatient to get it back out on the road(Brean Beach Party was my deadline), I decided to re paint the yellow bits I'd sanded back, and just get out and use it for a while. Then when I get a big enough gap inbetween shows etc, Ill go for the yellow! Before and after; The exhaust has really seen better days, with lots of holes. So I took it off, welded it, powder coated it, and put it back on for a temporary fix.To be honest, didn't work all that well!It was ok for a bit, then it got hit a few times on speedbumps etc, and is rubbish again! It rattles a LOT, and is leaking in a few places, so next week Its going in for a full stainless system! ;D I also had a problem whereby I'd get a huge vibration through the drivetrain. Not too bad at idle, but over 2500 rpm it was terrible!Couldn't see anything obviously wrong, so started worrying it was gearbox shot, or big end going? Turns out the gearbox crossmember rubber had collapsed/perished so much, that the smallest bit of gearbox, about a millimetre's worth, was touching the crossmember itself, causing the problem. So feeling pleased it was an easy fix, I ordered a new mount. Took the old one off tonight, and it just fell apart!Picture with the new part.Still, another problem sorted. MOT next month though! So we'll see how that goes.
