Ok, this is the first time I've posted a for sale advert on here, hopefully I've met the requirements. The car has been on Ebay which true to form has resulted in a complete waster winning it and then moaning about how far I am away from him and wanting me to buy his train ticket for him. Despite my response to him I'm still a "velly velly nice man"....
This car was passed to me by my Dad who had been offered a pittance in part exchange as he was moving to a smaller car. Dad bought the car in June 2007 so I've known the car for four years and owned it since November last year.
Dad was downsizing as he was finding a large car like this a bit tricky to manoeuvre and park at his age, as such it has numerous parking scrapes to the bumpers which should fill and touch in, there is no damage to any panels. Included with the car is a touch-in set of paints.
The car itself is remarkably original, the tool kit, spare wheel (including special nuts), emergency triangle and first aid kit are all apparently unused and sealed where appropriate. The original Blaupunkt Como radio is still in place as is the code card complete with it's little store in the lockable glove box. There is a recent set of Avon tyres fitted all round and I've just had the tracking set. The service record is stamped (local garage) up to 110000 from memory. The light gray seats have no holes or visible wear, the original Mercedes mats are in place and both electronic keys are present and working. Everything on the car works.
To drive the car feels like a new car, the engine runs beautifully with no smoke or rattles and pulls smoothly through the revs. The auto box changes smoothly and predictable with no untoward noises. I have used the car mainly for long distance runs to Yorkshire and back and it will happily do the 700 mile round trip faultlessly, the cruise control making it all the easier. I'd be confident for a buyer to drive it home to anywhere in the UK after purchase.
Ok, time for the problems.... luckily there's nothing that's insurmountable. Rust has come through at the bottom of the front passenger door at two places which seems quite common on these cars. The bonnet has some dents that were caused when a faulty header tank blew several years ago, unfortunately these are difficult to take photographs of as there's no paint damage to show them up. Add to that the parking scrapes mentioned at the beginning and I think that's about it. Overall the car is tidy considering it's 13 years old.
Some scroate has also had the rear three point star away, there's no damage to the boot lid but it happened so often (they just pull out) that my Dad got bored of replacing it. They had the front star as well but I've replaced that with a brand new genuine one.
The car has just been clayed and given a coat of Meguiars wax so it's all nice and smooth. Right, on with the pics.......
I know it's not really retro, but it is pre-2000 and here's a picture of my daily to compensate....
