New to this site so now for something that is unusual and unique. A Dutton Phaeton S1, powered by Ford Essex V6 3.1. Yes it is quick, only 620 kilos, and at last it handles. Found in a barn in Aug 06 and taken apart same month to find a lot of horrors, how it ever had MOT`s beats me. Suspension that could not work ever, gearbox to axle out of line that uj`s were at limit and so on. However soon sorted out with new drive train ,Ford V6, 5 speed box and Reliant Scimitar rear axle grafted in. Some new body mouldings were found in scrapyard near home, what chance of that! Obviously meant to be.
March 07 Found its way to MOT station and passed with flying colours, taxed same day and went for shakedown run,SCARY!! V6 Revs to 8000, on to cam at 3500 when it takes off loudly. Top speed not a clue but 70 happens very quickly in 2nd. Had handling issues was too light for solid axle so that had to go, now has BMW e30 arms and subframe with 5 series Diff to take the grunt. Much better now. Can be seen most sunday afternoons in the summer on Bournemouth Prom at CCOTP( see web) ,all cars pre August 83 welcome ! FREE! Thats all for now from this PETROLHEAD.
