my mk3 estate i have been working on pretty much flat out over the last 3 weeks decided it wasn't going to get to the pod this weekend, due to having a dog of a v6 fitted !.
I decided to save a bit of time and fit an engine that my mate had brought in good faith as a good engine that had been removed from a suposed good running car . once fitted I found out at my expence the engine was a complete dog, it made it as far as the m25 from southend then boiled up ,even before then i knew all was not right with the engine as it was extremely low on power. after a half hour of messing about with it at the side of the motorway it evetualy fired up only to then have an all to familar bottom end rattle so drove up to the a12 turnoff and doubled back to the a127 to take it back to the workshop, less than a mile and it had already passed the boling point on the temp gauge, I nursed it back to the workshop absolutly fuming at this stage as this is probably the first engine i have fitted in about 10 years without first stripping and inspecting it i was realy p###ed with it so needed to release so i reversed it into the workshop with it now steaming from pretty much every point due to being so hot and nailed it till it stopped running all of about 5 seconds.
anyway the other guys had carried on to the pod and by the time i left they were stopped for a break at the cambridge services this was at 2pm saturday 3pm saturday i pulled into the services in the kadett to meet them ok so i didn't have a ford there but the little kadett got lots of attention all weekend and i had a great time racing it and just generaly meeting and catching up with people over the weekend
anyway as every one has missed it here is the estate that didn't make it
as it looked one month ago a fairly straight but hand panted and a little tatty mk3 estate.
and how it looks now
