1st off, apologies for my 1st post in a long time being a for sale one. But I fell out of love with VW's yet couldn't shake the Polo no matter where I went or what I bought.
It did sell on Ebay recently, yet thanks to a time waster it is back up for sale forums in a hope it will make it to a good home.
Here for sale is my Mk1 Polo LX. This is a very regrettable sale but I am moving and the new house doesn’t have a driveway or garage. I really hope this goes to an enthusiast as I’m sure it wont need much to get through an MOT, I just haven’t had the time to get it any further.
Good points.
It is lowered on the lowest Phil J suspension kit (I planned to put it back to standard shocks and -40mm springs as I didn't want to flare the arches).
Coupe S engine on NF ignition.
Mk1 Golf GTI 9 spoke alloys.
Shell and front wings solid.
Brakes were bled about 2 years ago and had Goodridge braided hoses fitted and 2 new rear cylinders in the drums.
Has early headlights and grill, although the grill has been chopped (along with the front valance) where a G40 engine was fitted (no longer G40).
Good condition late spec bumpers.
Awesome number plate.
Polo LX silver dash.
Rad cheesy LX graphics.
Bad points.
The rear arches were repaired some time ago but could do with re-sorting. Not important for the MOT but will obviously want to be done to get the car back up to scratch.
Starter motor died, but previous to this, the car was running and driving on my friends private land. Must have covered 30 miles or so and had no problems then.
Needs new rear tyres.
Fuel pipes need re-attaching.
Original seats are long gone, but Mk2 Polo items are in place now. No seat belts. Carpet is a home made joby in black. Black door cards have speaker holes cut into them. No roof lining. No gear knob.
After this I don't know what it needs.
It has a Mk3 Polo wiring loom and Mk3 GT clocks installed. Thought I had the original clocks showing the 89000 miles the shell has done but I cannot find them for love nor money. If I find them before the auction ends I’ll obviously include them. Has the Mk3 indicator and wiper stalks but these need fitting properly. Early Mk2 Polo Steering wheel.
I have started the bidding at £300 as I have seen Mk1’s needing major chassis welding go for £700 and this example certainly doesn’t need this. Me and this car have a long, long history of many ups and downs, I’d really love to see this on the road again, so please don’t ask me to break her. One of the pictures is to show how rad she looks, especially next to other old motors.

2nd apologies for the Ebay link. It's purely to show the photos of it as I can't find them on my hard drive.
Any questions, please ask.
