Wow. Great work. I just bought a 1979 royale my self 2 weeks ago. It had the weber carb conversion with manual choke. So much easier to tune than the Solex 4a1. Not too much info on them. I need control arm bushes if you know where to get them.

jetfiremuck Yaay another Royale owner ;D After shran put his on the back burner (blue 2.8 saloon) I was fearing I was the last one in town. I checked out the part no's for the bushes and the control arms but they don't seem to be easily available. If you type the number into Google things come up in Germany for them tho as the same parts would have been on the Senator A. - 90075035 control arm outer bush
- 90079299 control arm inner bush
- 90105572 LH control arm
- 90105573 RH control arm
Any pictures of your car? How did you get it? Hope its a saloon ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Cheers for the help with bushings. Ill try and sort something out. The strut bar to chassis end is perished and loose. I will do the complete front end as I'm at it. When was the Gm180C fitted to the Senators? The lock up torque converter would give better mpg on a run, same 1:1 ratio as the four speed.

jetfiremuck, GSi2000 that's a beautiful example. I've never seen the back seats of a blue one ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) There is another very nice blue one at this link for a similar price (bit dearer) www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C249034bstardchild I've had a llok at that link. Interesting stuff and obviously a lot of effort expended by ppl to get a suitable aftermarket bush. Funnily enough I looked on Powerflex site today and drew a blank. I never thought of going in under Holden!

Happy to help - Holden's underneath are very similar been ages since I needed to review the bush situation - a fair bit got covered in my Monza thread Used to be able to get some bushes thro Vauxhall but all the Opel stock was flogged to OCP so they are always worth a look if you are after rubber bushes PS TWOMAS is a very quiet forum :tumbleweed: but worth a brouse as a lot of the Monza/Royale coupe stuff crosses over to the Senator/Royale/Viceroy saloons

The bushes look like a pain in the ![](http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2009/11/fox_60.jpg) to locate. Spent some time looking. Am not sure what will fit for definite. The Royale was an English car imported to Ireland recently and has a mot until next June. I gave 1750€ for it cleared in Ireland. I had the cobbled with tinfoil and isopon bodge center exhaust boxes cut out and straight pipes installed. It had a new Walker back box installed and its much quieter now. I need some help with the following . 1. The cylinder can that sits on the intake manifold towards the front connects to what? Its not hooked up at the present. I think its fuel related. What does it do? 2. The valve cover has a 10mm hole on the side that fumes are coming from. This looks like it should connect to the bottom of the air filter housingwith a hose but there is nothing there, no hoses or attatching pipe or fitting/ valve at the valve cover. Other than that ill change the trans fluid and filter and give it a tune up. Thanks

not much to report on the Royale just now apart from I changed the oil yesterday and it feels great. I'm sure I read that it takes just over 5 litres of oil and I checked the dipstick regularly and it was never particularly low. I would say only 3 litres or so came out when I drained it yesterday tho ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) Main reason for this post tho is that I think I ahve sussed out how to put a snap shot of a PDF on suh as a page from the parts list. I have added it to the post from 15/11/11 ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I allways reckoned on 4.5L without a filter change and 5.0 L with a filter change 5.5 L with a filter change and an airline blow out of the oil cooler Main reason for this post tho is that I think I ahve sussed out how to put a snap shot of a PDF on suh as a page from the parts list. bstardchild I changed the filter and put the full 5L in. Its definitely running better....smoother ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I had thought recently that the noisy engine was all to do with having no carpets in but looks like it was more than that.....lack of oil? It'll be luxury once I have carpets & oil Anyway just for the sake of it I'm putting up more screen shots of the parts list to practise using the new technique. Since we were discussing the front suspension bushes in recent posts here is the pages for the part numbers and diagram for that area ![](http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww318/foy9999/frtssp.png) ![](http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww318/foy9999/frntsusppic.png) I have somehow got one to copy with the toolbars showing and the other without. Not sure which looks best tbh

This is the oil I used ![](http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww318/foy9999/P1000141.jpg) I suppose there are various oils I could have used so asked the question on the Autbahnstormers forum as it is dedicated to the Vauxhall/Opel straight 6. I liked one guy's reply so went for the 20W50 in the picture and the car is running great on it but I suppose could be running great on many different oils.

what happened to the engine in the end ? the catastrophic groaning and banging ?
just driving it round until it dies ?
