hi chaps, this is just a quick show off of my Hartge H5
I bought this off my stepdad recently. It was a standard 535i Sport auto converted by Birds BMW in 1998 with modifications including Hartge suspension, Shrick cam, gas flowed head, chip plus a few other bits and bobs. Its supposed to be around 245bhp which i will find out when i get it dyno'd next month. It definitely feels a lot faster than my old 535i.
I have a folder full of receipts, including the receipts carried out by Birds, and a little diary of work carried out by the guy my stepdad bought it off.
Also some pics on a memory stick of the engine swap.
Basically, he bought it as a Sport, the bottom end was rumbling so he replaced the engine with a 109k mile one, but the car seemed a lot slower. He stripped the old engine down, and thats when he found the modifications to the head, and the cam etc.
He tried getting hold of previous owners as he said the work was carried out to a very high standard but with no joy. After a lot of research, he contacted Birds BMW which requested the chassis number and confirmed it was one of there conversions and sent him copies of the receipts.
Thats when he sourced (at great time and expense apparently) the genuine Hartge wheels.
It makes me laugh that someone spent around 7 grand on an 8 year old car!
Anyway, pics
Comments welcome
