Caddy has been making an increasingly loud and frequent noise I thought it was steering related as it seemed to do it only when you turned the wheel and not over speed humps or whatever but it does seem to do it when you bounce it. I've been under it this morning and checked for play in stuff, binding stuff, stuff which looked like it shold be lubed but wasnt't and nothing obvious amiss. All grease points look recently attended to. Nothing lose, broken, rough, loose, leaking. I originally had it down as a bush gone hard, tey squeak and creak, it sounded like a galleon on the high seas. Oddly enough it doesn't do it "from cold" the car has to have done a couple of miles. click for video and turn up ya speakers... Now I come to bounce it I'm pretty sure its a shocker thats had it. Thoughts?

Does your car have a rubber bit at the top of the shocker as it could be that (same noise on the panda).

No idea (other than what you've already considered) but that video needs a bo11ox-fuel-tank-video-esque soudntrack. Or maybe a quick blast of Fat Harry White at the end. Mmmmmmm, baby.

Time for Mr Moog to save the day then. It's been a sway bar weekend. The whole bar came off the Chrysler yesterday!

Shock seems most likely to me, too - the squeak sounds as though something's moving linearly for a fair distance, rather than rotating through a few degrees (bushes on suspension arms and sway bar).

It seems to bounces how it should.
Eh
With car stationary turn the wheel lock to lock it groans all the way.
I guess that wouldn't deflect the shocks that much, but would put sway bushes under tension?

Give each bush, bearing and mounting a skoosh with wd40, one at a time, bouncing it in between each dose until the noise disappears/changes tone. If that doesnt work, then look at the shocker.

cheers, I'd heard the WD40 trick before and forgot it, I usually find my bushes split before they creak so I've never been in need of that trick!

Sounds mighty similar but not quite the same as a spring I had rubbing off the spring cup when the rubber protector wore through. Doesn't quite sound like metal on metal though, does sound more like a rubber squeak.

destroyed/disintegrated bump stop on shock damper?
destroyed/disintegrated rubber isolator - sits between shock top cap and suspension turret?
dry shock stanchion rubbing on seal?
no idea of the suspension design of the caddy but it sounds like rubber has gone dry and is rubbing on metal..just a thought.

OK, according to Rock Auto there are 2 sizes of front sway bar on this car, I have to measure it. Is this an excuse to get an upgraded one from ADDCO or PST? LOL.
