Hi Folks,
Anything I need to know about buying an old motorbike in Northern Irelnd??? I'm on the mainland, do I need to reregister change numberplate?

don't think you will have any problems, lots of private plates in england/wales/scotland are Northern Ireland plates.

V5 is slightly different i think but you shouldnt have probs

yeah my GTE is an ex-NI, it was just driven over the the DVLA informed of the new owner - i don't think you can just post the V5 off like normal but a phone call should sort it.

hehe, i'm gonna assume its the same as taking an english car over to here then? I live in NI btw... you will get one a4 page (half the v5) take the red? one, cert of permanent export, and send to DVLNI (DVLNI, County Hall, Castlerock Rd, Coleraine, and yes I do know that off by heart) they will send you a form to fill in which you can send to DVLA Swansea then and get her in your own name there. You can choose to keep the NI reg then or get a new one (an age related i think as you englanders don't allow new plates on old vehicles?? whereas we can here)
