heat resistant paint from H*lfords would do the job, very high temp paint for the exhaust itself

yeh you want some VHT. you can also get ceramic based coatings from www.frost.co.uk that you paint on then they "bake" with the heat of the exhaust

vrskodanorman in da house: hello, i need your help.
The heat shield: As always when painting it's the "ground work" that creates a great finish so find someone who can sandblast the heat shield real clean for you, if you can't find that sand it down real well making sure it's 100% free of rust and grime. The heat shield does not get verry hot (it's shielding from the heat!?!?!?) so Hammerite paints will work fine.....
The exhaust: Here it's verry (verry verry verry verry) important that the pipe is 100% free of old paint, rust, oil and grime, it's almost impossible to do that by hand so again a good sanblaster will help out, after cleaning it to bare metall whipe it down a couple of times with paint thinner so you get it clean, even a fingerprint can ruin the paint. Get a good quality Hot Paint, I have had good results with VHT Paints but there's others available. Paint 3 or 4 thin coats to cover 100% then when it has been left to dry atleast 24 hours give it a thicker top coat. Now comes the tricky stuff, DO NOT TOUCH with bare hands handle it with either gloves or plastic bags on your hands, fit the pipe to the bike start it up and let it warm up real good make sure not touching the pipe or getting dirt on it, let it cool over night and do it all over again then the paint should have cured.....
DP says: Painting an exhaust is almost nuclear science......
